Singapore & Malaysia 2023 - Part 17

Kuala Lumpur

Sunday - August 20th 2023

Our first full day in Kuala Lumpur started with breakfast before heading into the city. For today we had tickets for the KL Tower and we decided to walk, since it wasn't very warm yet. However, the further we went, the warmer it got, but once we arrived at the KL Tower, we sweated like never before. We had purchased our tickets online and so we didn't have to queue and soon we were on top of the tower. From there we had a fantastic view over Kuala Lumpur and it was a great reward after not getting on top of the Petronas Twin Towers.

After visiting the KL Tower we walked to Kuala Lumpur's city center, but on the way we stopped at Starbucks for a refreshing iced coffee. Then we continued our walking tour towards Independence Square to see the Sultan Abdul Samad Building that once housed the British Colonial Administration in Malaysia. Along the way we also passed the Sultan Abdul Samad Mosque and other interesting landmarks like the Central Market. At the Central Market we bought some souvenirs until we decided to return to Bukit Bintang.

Back in Bukit Bintang we had a late lunch at Kusa Japanese Vegan Restaurant. It took us some time to find the restaurant, but it was so worth the search, because the food was delicious. We ordered different kinds of sushi and fried riced. The rest of the afternoon we spent at the hotel pool until it started to rain again. In the evening we went to the Pavilion Shopping Mall, where we found a German bar called Weissbräu. Interestingly they didn't offer German beer, so we got Japanese beer instaed. After a couple of beers we went to Food Republic for dinner again, and of course we ate at Noyona Vege restaurant fried chicken rice. The rest of the evening we spent with strolling through the shopping mall and eating frozen yoghurt.
