Thaya Bike Trail

Last year we had to cancel out bike trip due to our corona illness, but this
year it was finally time for another tour. We chose the
Thaya Bike Trail, because it's a rather short and easy tour. So Friday early morning we hit
the road and drove to Raabs an der Thaya, where we started our bike tour. For
today we had planned to cycle about 70km to Waidhofen an der Thaya, but first
we stopped at the local supermarket to get some snacks and beers for our
breaks. Unfortunately it was cold and windy, but at least it wasn't raining,
however sometime the sun was even coming out.

Around noon we got hungy and after we found a nice spot, we stopped for a
lunch break. We ate our rolls and enjoyed our beer before continuing. Along
the way we got lost while passing through small villages, but in the
afternoon we eventually arrived in Slavonice in Czech Republic. There we
found a nice little coffee house and of course we had to get cake and
coffee. Slavonice had a beautiful town centre, but there wasn't much to do
and so we hit the bike trail again. This part of the trail was built on an
abandonned railway track and so it was rather flat with a beautiful scenery.
At the defunct railway station in Dobersberg we took another break and had
our last beer.

In the late afternoon we finally arrived at our hotel in Waidhofen an der
Thaya. We stayed at the
Stadthotel right in the
city center. Once we checked in, we parked our bikes and had a shower in
our nice and comfortable room. Later we headed out for dinner and soon we
found a lovely restaurant called
Foggy Mix. Claudia had a vegan bowl and I opted for a pizza. The food was nice and
so were the drinks. Afterwards we just strolled around the city before
returning to the hotel, where we had another beer in our room while
watching TV.
