Mailberg 2022 - Part 1

Friday - July 8th 2022

 

Like last year Claudia and I spent the weekend in Lower Austria's wine region called Weiviertel. After work we packed our stuffe, bought some snacks at the supermarket and soon we were on our way to Mailberg, a small village in the middle of Weinviertel. Once we arrived at our bed & breakfast, we got the keys, unpacked our stuff and enjoyed a welcome drink with the very nice owners. Afterwards we drove to Hanfthal-Hof for dinner. There we got a burger and vegetable paties, both dishes were fine and then we returned to Mailberg, where we stopped at Winebar Hagn for a glass of wine. Back at the bed & breakfast we called it a day and watched some television.

Saturday - July 9th 2022

 

Today we wanted to spend our day at Therme Laa, a hot springs pool and spa facility. After breakfast we hit the road and on the way we stopped at a lovely little supermarket to buy some snacks and drinks for later. Once we arrived we changed into our swim clothes and then we headed to the outdoor pool to get sun chairs in the shade. We spent a wonderful day at Therme Laa with drinks at the pool, sunbathing and relaxing in the warm water. For lunch we had fries at the outdoor bar and in the afternoon we returned to our bed & breakfast to get ready for the evening.

Like last year, the main reason for visiting the Weinviertel region, was a wine tasting event held by vegan wine producer Fürnkranz. We got picked up by a shuttle service and after we arrived at the vineyards, we were greeted with a glass of wine. Once all guests arrived, we got a tour through the vineyards and could try all their wines. Unfortunately the weather changed and soon it started to rain. So the vegan buffet was moved into the wine cellar, which was fine, but we still would have prefered to sit outside. We had a nice evening with lots of food and wine and a couple of hours later the shuttle service took us back to our bed and breakfast.

Returning Home

 

Sunday - July 10th 2022

 

Today we slept in, because it was raining. Since the weather didn't improve, we decided to drive back home after breakfast. Around noon we arrived in Salzburg and spent a quiet day relaxing in front of the TV.
