Munich Spring 2014 - Part 1

Going To Munich

Friday - March 28th 2014

Recently Claudia and I celebrated our birthdays and so we decided to spend a weekend in Munich. While Claudia took Friday off, I had to work until noon, but right after work I picked her up and soon we were on our way to Munich. Traffic was low and one and a half hour later we arrived at our hotel. In Munich we usually stay in a Motel One and this time was no exception. However instead of the Motel One Deutsches Museum, we chose another location. This time we stayed in the Motel One Munich City Ost. From there it takes a few minutes more to reach the inner city. When we arrived, our room was already available and so we checked in. The rooms of the Motel One hotels are usually a little bit smaller, but big enough for two persons.

After we refreshed a bit, we were on our way to the Viktualienmarkt for a late lunch. There we stopped our favourite Oriental Food Cafe named Sababa. We both ordered a Falaffel sandwich, which was as good as always.

Then it was time for the Hard Rock Cafe. We are both big fans of the Hard Rock Cafe and whenever we are in Munich, we have to have a beer there. This time we had more than one beer and stayed there until our reservation at the Hans Im Glück Burger Restaurant was due.

Like the last time the burgers came with a cocktail and tasted as delicious as always. We both ordered the vegan burger with fries and the Goldregen cocktail. After a wonderful dinner we returned to the hotel where we enjoyed another drink at the bar.

Munich Spring 2014 - Part 2

A Lovely Day In Munich

Saturday - March 29th 2014

Although the Motel One offers breakfast for an additional fee, we usually eat somewhere else. Today we had a reservation at Hotel Louis, because they offer a fantastic vegan breakfast buffet. We had already eaten there in 2012, but last year we didn't get a table and so we tried again this time and got a table. Like last time, the breakfast was really wonderful.

Later we did some shopping, had a coffee at Starbucks, but the highlight was meeting The Doctor and his TARDIS in a Comic Book Shop.

Before we returned to the hotel to get the car and drive home, we had a walk along the Isar to a vegan supermarket. There we bought a lot of stuff, had lunch and then it was time to drive back to Salzburg.

With the Winter leaving, although this year it wasn't even here, and the weather getting better and warmer, it was finally time to spend some time outside in the nature. One of our favourite activities on weekends is to hike from the Augustiner Bräu Mülln over the Mönchsberg to the inner city. Sometimes we stop at the Stadtalm restaurant for a glass of cold beer. From the beer garden you have a wonderful view over Salzburg's historic district.

A New Restaurant In Town

Recently a new vegetarian and vegan restaurant, The Green Garden, opened in Salzburg and of course we had to try it. Although the restaurant isn't very big, it only offers a few tables, it is designed beautifully and has a very modern look, which we like a lot. Since it opened we had been there several times and always enjoyed eating there. The food is delicious, especially the burger and the Berliner, a deep fried toast filled with jam. I'm pretty sure we will eat there again soon.
