Vienna Summer 2021 - Part 1

After our bike trip we decided to spend a couple of days in Vienna. Saturday morning after our Covid-19 test we hit the road towards Vienna where we arrived around noon. We stayed at Novotel Central Station and once we found the hotel it was time for check in. Our room was on the eleventh floor from where we had a great view over the railway station. Like last year we booked the "Experience Your Capital City", which was established to help Vienna's tourism to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, and therefore we got a special rate and a goodie bag full of products from Viennese companies.

After we unpacked our stuff we headed into the city for lunch at Swing Kitchen. Two delicious burger later we got ice cream and then we did some shopping. Since it was really warm today we had to stop at a rooftop bar for drinks until we returned to our hotel. In the evening we went to Max & Benitos for dinner and afterwards we got a couple of cocktails at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Vienna Summer 2021 - Part 2

Our day started with breakfast and then we decided to take a walk through the neighbourhood. Since it was Sunday all the shops were closed and so we planned to visit a museum. We chose the famous Albertina in Vienna's inner city and arrived shortly after it opened. After an intersesting morning at the museum we had lunch at Veggiezz.

The afternoon we spent at Vienna's famous Prater amusement park. We hadn't been there for quite some time now, because it's not really comparable to a real theme park. Nonetheless the had some fun and did the Breakdance flat ride. Since it got really crowded due to Austria's football game in preparation for the UEFA Euro 2020 against Slovakia, we returned to the hotel to relax a bit. Afterwards we had dinner at Swing Kitchen again. The rest of the evening we spent at the Hard Rock Cafe and enjoyed a couple of cocktails.

Vienna Summer 2021 - Part 3

Today was already our last day in Vienna and we had planned to spend it with shopping. So after breakfast we packed our stuff, checked out and headed to Vienna's main shopping street. For lunch we stopped at Xu's Cooking and after we finished our shopping tour, we returned to our car and hit the road back to Salzburg. On the way we stopped at Restaurant Stiftskeller in St. Florian for a delicious vegan dinner.

Tauern Bike Trail 2021 - Part 1

Last year we got hooked on bike tours. After the Alpe Adria Trail last summer and Salzkammergut Trail last autumn we wanted to try another bike trail. This time we decided to try the Tauern Bike Trail from Krimml to Salzburg. Our journey started early Thursday morning. First we had to take the train from Salzburg to Zell am See from where we had to change to the local train to Krimml. After several hours of train rides we finally arrived in Krimml. From the train station we still had to ascend about 4km to reach the actual start of the Tauern Bike Trail.

Once we reached the start, we got a beer, because it was already noon, and then it we hit the bike trail towards Zell am See. First we had to take the same route through the forest back to Krimml and from there we followed the Salzach river to Neukirchen and then onwards to Mittersill. In Mittersill we stopped for an ice cold beer and then we continued our tour. Luckily the weather was really nice, although a little bit too warm.

From Mittersill we cycled via Kaprun and Zell am See to Thumersbach, where we arrived in the late afternoon at our Bed & Breakfast called Pension Claudia. Our room was simple, but totally fine for just one night. Once we checked in, we got a beer to celebrate our arrival. After we showered we headed into the village to find a restaurant for dinner. Claudia and I decided to have dinner at the Beach Club, because there they offered a vegan burger. Claudia tried the burger and I got Spaghetti Napoli. A couple of drinks later we returned to the hotel, watched TV and then it was time for bed.
