Honeymoon 2015 - Part 15

Sint Maarten

Tuesday - January 20th 2015

Our first port of call awaited us today, the Disney Fantasy docked in Sint Maarten. The island is devided into the French part in the north and the Dutch part with Philipsburg and its harbour in the south. After breakfast at Cabanas we packed our stuff and walked off the ship to the Boardwalk in Philipsburg. Although there was a water taxi available to take guests to the Boardwalk, we walked there, because it was just a couple of minutes.

It was really hot that day and so we decided to stay at the beach. We rented two chairs, a sunshade, free wi-fi and five beers for 25 dollars, which was a pretty good deal in my opinion. The beach was so beautiful and we enjoyed the whole day there. The water was clean and warm and perfect for swimming. For lunch we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and got fries, a beer and a cocktail. In the afternoon we took a break from swimming and strolled around the shopping streets in Philipsburg, however we didn't buy anything.

In the late afternoon we returned to the ship, had a veggie burger at Flo's V8 Cafe and then we got ready for the movie Into The Woods. The film was okay, but I wouldn't have paid for it. Between the show and dinner, we watched the Pirates Dance Party on the sundeck. Today's dinner was served at the Royal Court again and we ordered a pineapple and a garden salad for starters, mushrooms with fried bananas and a stuffed tortilla for the main course and ice cream for dessert. Suddenly the waiter brought a beautiful cake to our table. It was a gift from the kitchen to celebrate our honeymoon. What a great surprise! The cake was delicious and we shared it with the rest of our table. Later in the evening Disney's Pirates in the Caribbean Fireworks was on the programm and of course we wanted to see that. It was fantastic. After a glass of wine at the Bon Voyage Bar we went to bed.
