Japan 2018 - Part 18

Returning Home

Friday - September 21st 2018

Unfortunately our trip to Japan came to an end and we had to return home. Once we checked out, we took the taxi to Maihama train station and from there we took the train and the monorail to Haneda Airport. After we returned our portabel wi-fi, we dropped off our luggage and waited for the plane to depart. We still had a couple of Yen left and we invested those in coffee and beer. Finally it was time for departure and about twelve hours later we arrived in Frankfurt.

In Frankfurt we had to wait for about two hours for our flight back to Salzburg. About an hour before the plane should have departed, Lufthansa told us that the plane is delayed. Another half an hour later they told us that the flight got cancelled. What followed now was the worst costumer service I have ever experienced. Every low cost carrier offers better service than Lufthansa. At the end of a very long day we ended up in hotel near the airport. Since Lufthansa wasn't able to fly us to Salzburg, we took a plane to Munich and from there the train to Salzburg. Saturday noon we were finally back home.

Besides the horrible journey back home we had a wonderful vacation. Japan is now definitely my favourite vacation destination. The people we met were always so friendly, polite and helpful. The country was just amazing. I can't wait to return.
