California 2016 - Part 13

Our Last Day At Disneyland

Friday - June 3rd 2016

Time flew by and so it was already our last day at the happiest place on earth. Like yesterday our day began at the Disneyland park. Since we hadn't done anything in Tomorrowland yet, we started with Space Mountain, a roller coaster in the dark. The one at Disneyland Paris does not only look stunning, but it is also very thrilling. That can't be said about the one in Florida, which is a very boring ride, but since Anaheim's version is again different compared to Paris or Orlando, we had to give it a try. Additionally it got a Star Wars layover involving space battle scenes. While it was better than the one at the Magic Kingdom, Disneyland's Space Mountain was still not very good.

Since the crowds were still low, we decided to ride the Indiana Jones Adventure and thanks to the fastpass, we were able to ride it a second time later in the morning. Next was Big Thunder Mountain, followed by the Haunted Mansion and Indiana Jones again. Before we left Disneyland for the California Adventure park, we had lunch one last time at the Royal Street Veranda in Adventureland. I guess you already know, what we have ordered.

In California Adventure we rode California Screamin' first and then one of our Disney favourites, Toy Story Midway Mania. That ride was always so much fun at Walt Disney World and of course it was at Disneyland too. Now it was time for a beer and a Mickey pretzel at Bayside Brews. Today it was really warm and so we decided to leave the park and get a drink and fries at the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney. The main intention was to be somewhere with an air condition. Afterwards we bought some souvenirs at the World of Disney Store, Claudia is now addicted to Disney Tsum Tsums, and then we walked back into the park. Once inside we did The Little Mermaid attraction again and thanks to a fastpass we got from a very friendly family, we could ride California Screamin' one more time. Since it was our last day at Disney, we wanted to do something special and so we had dinner at the Wine Country Trattoria. Claudia orderer the pasta with broccoli and I got pasta marinara. While the dishes were good, the portions could have been bigger for the prices.

After dinner we just walked around the California Adventure park and since there was no line at all, we did Matter's Junkyard Jamboree. Before we left Disneyland for good, we went into the Disneyland park for one last time. There we got one last Dole Whip and then it was time to say goodbye. Claudia and I had a fantastic time at Disneyland, but even Walt's park couldn't match Disneyland Paris. That park will always have a special place in our hearts, because not only is it our home park, but also the most beautiful Disney park we have seen so far. However it was a great feeling to know that 60 years ago Walt Disney himself walked around that lovely park in Anaheim. A lamp in Walt Disney's apartment above the fire station on Main Street USA showed if he was in the park and nearly 50 years after his death the lamp is still glowing. That little detail, added so much to our whole time there so that I can't wait to return. After visiting the original Disneyland, there are only three Disney resorts left.
