Flying Home
Saturday - May 10th 2025
Today we had to fly back home, but since our flight didn't depart before the
evening, we still had plenty of time to see New York City from the bird's eye
view. So after breakfast at Cafe Aroma with our last bagels we were on our way
to Hudson Yards. There we bought our tickets for
The Edge, an outdoor
observation deck. Today the weather was great and so we had a fantastic view
over Manhattan and New Jersey. Later it got pretty crowded and so we decided
to leave and get lunch at Whole Foods Market. Then we headed back to the hotel
and picked up our luggage. We checked out already in the morning and so we
just grabbed an Uber and drove to the airport.

Newark Airport in New Jersey had some serious problems with air traffic
control and so were a little bit nervous about our flight back home being on
time, but until now everything was fine. Once we dropped off our luggage and
passed security and border control we were surprised how bad the international
terminal was. There were hardly any shops and just a couple of restaurants. So
we got a couple of beers while waiting for departure. Finally it was time for
boarding and luckily our Austrian Airlines flight left Newark Airport on time. About eight hours later
we landed in Vienna. After we picked up our luggage, we grabbed a small
breakfast before hitting the road. Now our wonderful vacation to New York City
came to an end and we can't wait for our next holiday.
