Danube Bike Trail 2026 - Part 1

Linz To Ybbs

Yesterday we had returned from Disneyland Paris and today our second trip during our one week vacation started already. A couple of years ago we rode our bikes along the Tauern Bike Trail from Salzburg to Passau and from there along the Danube Bike Trail to Linz. For years we wanted to finish the Austrian part of the Danube Bike Trail and so we decided to do it this year. So early morning we took the train to Linz, where we started our tour towards Vienna. After we arrived we stopped at a lovely coffee house for breakfast and then it was finally time to hit the bike trail. We left Linz on the northern side of the Danube until we reached a small village, where we bought some snacks and food for lunch.

After we crossed the river at the Wallsee Hydro Power Plant to the southern side of the Danube, we took a break at a lovely resting area and enjoyed our snacks. Later we continued our bicycle tour and in the afternoon we arrived at the beautiful village of Grein. For Grein we had to cross to the northern side again, but it was worth the detour, because we stopped at Cafe Schörgi for coffee and cake. Then it was time for the last part towards Ybbs along the southern Danube Bike Trail.

In the late afternoon we finally arrived in Ybbs and were really happy about that, because it was already rather cold and the last kilometers weren't that great to ride a bike since we had to share the street with cars. In Ybbs we initially wanted to stay at hotel Babenbergerhof, but we got offered to stay at the nicer Donau Lodge for a couple of Euros more. Of course we took the offer and got a beautiful room for the night. Once we showered and refreshed we headed out and got drinks at Pier 4. Claudia and I had already been to there just a couple of weeks ago when we celebrated the finishig of out Ybbstal Bike Trail tour. After a couple of drinks it was time for dinner at Gasthof Mang. The rest of the evening we spent watching TV and relaxing in our room.

Disneyland Paris 2026 - Part 1

Arriving At Disneyland Paris

Our last visit to Disneyland Paris was in 2023 and so we thought it was time for another visit. Saturday morning we packed our stuff and hit the road towards Paris. It took us about eight hours by car until we arrived at Disney's European resort. Since all Disney Hotels were fully booked during our visit, we decided to try something new. Recently Disney refurbished all cabins at Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch and so we stayed there for the very first time. Once we arrived, we checked in, got our themepark tickets and then it was finally time to check out our cabin. We booked one near the village, where the reception, the store, the saloon, the tavern and the indoor pool were located. Our cabin was equipped with a kitchen, a dining room, two bathrooms and two sleeping rooms and could accomodate up to six persons.

After we unpacked our stuff we walked to the village to get a welcome drink at the bar. Unfortunately the saloon wasn't open yet and so we checked out the General Store, the indoor pool and the rest of the ranch. Finally the saloon opened as well and so Claudia and I had a couple of drinks until it was time for our reservation at Crockett's Tavern, a buffet restaurant. The weather was so nice, which meant we got a table outside. At first we were a bit sceptical about the buffet restaurant, but the food was delicious and there were plenty of vegetarian and plant based options as well. After a wonderful dinner we got another drink and enjoyed the warm and lovely evening with our drinks at the fire place.
