Visiting Friends In Columbus

Friday - September 22nd 2017

Unfortunately we had to leave our freinds today, but we were going to see other good friends again. So after breakfast we said goodbye and soon we were on our way to Columbus. There we arrived in the early afternoon, had lunch at a small bakery with and afterwards we drove over to our friends' house. It was really wonderful to see them after so many years again. Later our friends took us Gator riding, which was riding around in an four wheel drive all terrain vehicle and a lot of fun. Back at their house we had dinner together and after their kids went to bed, we opened a bottle of wine.

Saturday - September 23rd 2017

For today we hadn't planned anything special. In the morning we attended a birthday brunch with our friends and in the afternoon Claudia and I headed to the Easton Town Center outsdoor shopping mall, while our friends had to go to a school event.

German Village

Sunday - September 24th 2017

Today we slept in and then we watched Disney's Moana with the kids. After lunch our friends and their kids had to attend another birthday party and so Claudia and drove into the city and visited the German Village. There we got a coffee at Satrbucks and then we just strolled around the village. Since we still had some time left until our friends returned, we decided to drive to go to Easton Town Center again. At Whole Foods Market we got a snack and enjoyed a beer at the bar until it was time for dinner with our friends.

Apple Picking

Monday - September 25th 2017

Today was our last full day in Columbus and in the afternoon, after the kids returned from school, we drove to an apple picking farm out in the countryside. Since Claudia and I had never been to an apple pickin farm, we had a lot of fun, especially Claudia. After we filled our bags with apples, we drove back home, because our friends' parents were coming over for dinner. We had a fun last evening together and were already a little bit sad that we had to leave on the next day.

United States 2013 - Part 2

Labour Day Weekend In Columbus

Sunday - September 1st 2013

Sunday was relaxing, since we spent the whole day just with our friends and their lovely kids. Before noon we did some shopping for lunch at the Whole Foods Market, which was like paradise for my vegan girlfriend, and in the afternoon we just drove around the suburbs of Columbus to see a small waterfall. Later in the evening some neighbours of our friends came by and so we had dinner and Marsh Mallows together.

Monday - September 2nd 2013

Today was Labour Day, but unfortunately we had to say goodbye already to one of our friends, because he had to fly to Indonesia. What a bad timing. So after we got up, we drove him to the airport. At least we got to see him for one full day. Afterwards Claudia and I picked up our rental car, a fantastic new white Volkswagen Beetle. We spent the rest of the day with our friends' family who invited us to their traditional Labour Day Barbecue.

United States 2013 - Part 13

Back In Columbus And Returning Home

Friday - September 13th 2013

After breakfast in the hotel we packed our belongings and soon we were on our way back to Columbus, where we spent our last night in the US with our friends again. Around noon we arrived in the capital city of Ohio and drove to the Whoole Foods Market for lunch and to buy some stuff for home.

A beer flight later it was time to drive to our friends' house. We spent the afternoon together and for our last evening we all had dinner at the Northstar Cafe at the Easton Town Center. After dinner we just walked around the shops and enjoyed the rest of the evening.

Saturday - September 14th 2013

After a quick breakfast it was time to say goodbye to our friends and their kids. We loaded our Beetle and then we drove to the airport. First we had to return our rental car and then we checked in. However we still had some time left and so we had a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Soon we boarded the plane and were on our way to Atlanta. There we had to wait for the connecting flight to Munich for two hours and so we decided to eat something. Luckily the Atlanta International Terminal didn't offer any big fast food chains and so we got a cup of chili at French Meadow Cafe and a vegetarian taco at a Mexican counter service restaurant.

We still had some time left and so we used our last dollars for two beers before we boarded. Our Delta flight back home was right on time and eight hours later we landed in Munich Sunday morning. After we had our bags, we got the car and drove back home to Salzburg, where we arrived in the late morning.

We had two fantastic weeks in the United States and can't wait to return. It was so wonderful to see our friends again after so many years and a big Thank You to them for letting us stay with them.
