Themepark Tour 2021 - Part 5

Parc Asterix

Thursday - August 12th 2021

Today we left Disneyland Paris for the other big themepark near Paris. After we got our coffee at Starbucks we were on our way to Parc Asterix, which is based on the famous comic book character Asterix. Getting there wasn't that easy, because some roads were closed and so we had to endure some detours. However, about an hour later we arrived at the onsite hotel called Hotel Les Quais De Lutece. The hotel was brand new and really beautiful, unfortunately our room wasn't ready until 5pm, but we got our tickets for the park.

The Parc Asterix hotels had their own entrance at the backside of the park. When we made it into the park, we were surprised how crowded it already was. So we decided to get a coffee first and then we checked out an exhibition about the Asterix comic books. Afterwards we just walked around the park to see what it had to offer. Since it was already noon, we also looked out for something to eat and found a restaurant that also had a vegan option. To our suprise the vegan dish was really delicious. After lunch it was time for our first ride today. We got in line for Discobelix, a fun spinning flatride. Unfortunately the park was very crowded today and so the wait times were pretty long. Since we had purchased the Filotomatix Pass for the next day, which allowed us to ride attractions without queueing, we decided to have a relaxed afternoon. We checked out the shops, bought some souvenirs and stopped at bars for drinks. Later in the afternoon we got to ride Pégase Express, a fun family coaster.

It was now 5 pm and so we returned to the hotel, because our room was finally ready, but first we had to get our luggage from the car. Like the hotel our room was really beautiful. Located on the first floor it was spacious and still looked brand new. Since the park was very crowded today, Claudia and I decided to stay at the hotel and so we relaxed a bit until we headed downstairs to hit the bar. There we got a couple of drinks and pretzels for dinner.

Themepark Tour 2021 - Part 6

Parc Asterix

Friday - August 13th 2021

Today we wanted to make sure to get the most out of our time, so we purchased the so called Filotomatix ticket, which allowed us to skip the lines of all major attractions. Although the ticket was expensive, it was worth it, because like yesterday the park got very crowded again. Right after breakfast we headed to the park. Hotel guests were allowed to enter half an hour earlier than the regular visitors. Our first attraction was the family coaster Pégase Express followed by a lovely boat ride. Then it was finally time for Tonnerre De Zeus, Parc Asterix' wooden coaster. The line was already quite long and so used Filotomatix for the first time. Tonnerre De Zeus was a lot of fun and pumped with adrenalin we headed to the next big rollercoaster. On the way we came across a kiddie coaster with no line and so we gave it a try.

Over in Egypt we walked straight to OzIris, our second big coaster today. A fun ride later we decided to take a break and get a coffee. Parc Asterix is also home to a very special attraction called L'Aerolaf, a bar in the sky. Of course we had to do that. So we bought our drinks and then we were lifted into the sky. From above we had a fantastic view over the themepark. After we enjoyed our drinks it was time for the next rollercoaster, Goudurix. Unfortunately that coaster was very painful and not really enjoyable. Since it was already noon, we decided to have lunch at the same restaurant like yesterday. On the way to the restaurant we came across another water ride called Oxygenarium. We had a Filotomatix for it and so we got in line. It was okay, but nothing special.

Now it was finally time for lunch and like yesterday we got the vegan quinoa patty with fries. Since we were in France we ordered a small bottle of wine as well. A relaxing lunch later we did Numerobis, a small coaster in Egypt, followed by La Trace Du Hourra, another roller coaster. In the afternoon it got really hot and so we used our Filotomatix tickets for the water rides. Parc Asterix offered three water rides, Menhir Express, Le Grand Splatch and Romus er Rapidus. The first two rides were rather tame, but the last one, Romus et Rapidus, was pretty wild. However, before we got soaked at Romus et Rapidus, we got ice cream and strolled through the shops for souvenirs. We had one Filotomatix ticket left for Pegase Express and despite being so wet, we joined the ride before returning to the hotel. Back at the hotel we changed our we clothes and then we got a couple of drinks and a pretzel for dinner. The rest of the evening we spent at the hotel bar reminiszing about the fantastic time we had at Parc Asterix. We will definitely return to this amazing theme park.
