Disneyland Paris 2006 - Part 1

Disneyland Paris 2006

My girlfriend Claudia and I are huge Disney fans. Not only do we like Disney movies, we are also big fans of Disneyland and so in 2006 we decided to visit the happiest place in Europe. Unfortunately Disneyland isn't around the corner and so we either had to fly there, to take the train or to drive. We chose the train, because we found a cheap offer.

Monday - April 17th 2006

After a long train ride we arrived in Paris in the morning and then we took the RER to Disneyland Paris which is located 30km outside of Paris in Marne La Vallee. We had booked a room at Disney's Santa Fe Hotel. The hotel is themed to the American Southwestern with a huge Clint Eastwood billboard over the entrance of the hotel. The room was nice and clean, but nothing special. Since you spend most of the time in the parks, the hotel is really fine.

Since we arrived around noon at Disneyland Paris, we only had half a day for the parks. After entering the Disneyland Park we took the Disneyland Railroad that runs around the park. The train circles the whole park and you get a first impression on how big and beautiful this park is.

It was the first time for Claudia and so we did Fantasyland first. We used the first day to ride the main attractions, like Space Mounatin, Phantom Manor, Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. For me it has been six years since I have been to Disneyland the first time.

Since the parks closed early today, we had dinner at La Cantina at our hotel. La Cantina is a buffet restaurant that serves Mexican food. We spent the rest of the evening at Disney Village, where we enjoyed some very good cocktails.

Disneyland Paris 2006 - Part 2

Our Second Day In The Parks

Tuesday - April 18th 2006

On the next morning we had to get up early, because we had booked the Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast where your breakfast is served inside the park. Disneyland opened two hours earlier for those guests and you could ride several attractions, like Peter Pan's Flight, it's a small world, Tea Cups, Dumbo or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in Fantasyland. Since everyone rushed to the restaurant, we did all the rides first and had breakfast afterwards, when it was already quiet again. Afterwards we went over to Adventureland to ride Pirates of the Caribbean, a boat ride through the world of pirates.

Then it was time for Frontierland with its great attractions Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Phantom Manor. Both are two of Disney's best attractions ever created. Phantom Manor is a haunted house, while Big Thunder Mountain is the wildest ride in the wilderness. After watching The Lion King Musical, we decided to give the Walt Disney Studios Park a try. This park is about movies, television and cinema, but before we had lunch at the Hyperion Cafe and another ride with Space Mountain.

In the Studios we rode Rock'n'Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith first and then we watched Moteurs...Action!, a car stuntshow. Next was the Studio Tram Tour including Catastrophe Canyon. Back in 2006 the park was very small and so there wasn't that much to do for us.

Since it was already late afternoon, we returned to our room to refresh, because today the Disneyland Park stayed open until 10pm. The park looks wonderful when it's dark and all the illumination adds a lot to the magic. After a long day in the parks we returned to our room.

Disneyland Paris 2006 - Part 3

Our Third Day At Disneyland Paris

Wednesday - April 19th 2006

Today we had a regular breakfast with rolls, cheese, sausage and coffee at the hotel. Then it was time for the parks. Since the weather was nice and the hotel was only fifteen minutes away from the parks, we walked there by foot. There's a nice little walk way that runs through the hotels and Disney Village to the parks.

Breakfast

We used the morning for all the Fantasyland rides, because that's my girlfriend's favorite land. After it's a small world, Pinocchio, Snow White and Peter Pan we headed over to Discoveryland to ride Star Tours and Space Mountain and we watched the 3D show Honey, I Shrunk The Audience. Star Tours transports you into the Star Wars universe. Here you board the Starspeeder, a simulator, to travel to Endor until you end up in a battle with the dark side. For Lunch we had a Mickey Pizza at Buzz Lightyear's Restaurant and before we headed over to the Walt Disney Studios Park, we spent some time in Frontierland to ride Big Thunder Mountain again.

The first attraction on our programm for the Walt Disney Studios was Cinemagique. That's one of the best attractions at Disneyland Paris. It takes you on a journey through the history of cinema. Then we tried Armageddon, which was a bit disappointing. Here you are onboard the Russian Space Sation while a meteor is approaching. Later we did some shopping until it was time for Animagique, a cute black light show, you shouldn't miss.

After another ride with Rock'n'Roller Coaster we returned to the Disneyland Park to watch The Wonderful World Of Disney Parade. Afterwards we just strolled around Adventure Isle and Fantasyland. Since it was our last evening, we had planned something special for today's dinner. We had a reservation at Walt's - An American Restaurant. That's one of the best restaurants in the whole resort.

For starters we ordered Mozarella with Tomato Tartar and Antipasti and for the main course we both had the Walt's Burger. Of course we had dessert, too. While I had the Cinderella Slipper filled with Mousse Au Chocolat, Claudia had the Apple Crumble Pie with Vanilla Ice. The food was delicious. We spent the rest of the evening with shopping and had a few drinks in the Disney Village.
