9/11 Memorial & Museum
Monday - May 5th 2025
Our second day started with breakfast at Cafe Aroma. Of course we got bagels
with cream cheese and iced coffee again. Then we ordered an uber and drove to
Central Park where we got
off at The Plaza Hotel. First we just walked around Central Park before
strolling down 5th Avenue and checking out the famous and expensive boutiques
and stores. Along the way we stopped at St. Patrick's Cathedral and at
Rockefeller Center and continued our tour via Radio City Music Hall to Grand
Central Station. Unfortunately it started to rain and so we spent some time
checking out the impressive
Grand Central Terminal. For lunch we stopped at a nearby cafe for some snacks.

Since the weather didn't get any better, we changed our plans and took the
subway to Downtown Manhattan. There we wanted to excape the rain, while
exploring the
National Septemer 11 Memorial and Museum. We had already bough tickets from home for another day, but it wasn't any
problem to change the date and soon we were inside. The museum was very
informative and showed many Ground Zero artifacts like wrecked emergency
vehicles, but it was also a little bit gloomy. Afterwards we went to see the
two Memorial Fountains and the Survivor Tree. The whole area of the former
Twin Towers was transformed into a beautiful park that will always remind the
whole world of the terrible attacks in 2001. To brighten our mood we checked
out the Oculus Shopping Center and then we took the subway back to the hotel.
There we had a couple of drinks at the hotel bar, while the inlaws took a
break. Later we had dinner at the Whole Foods Market hot bar and back at the
hotel we all enjoyed one last drink togehter before calling it a day.
