Themepark Tour 2021 - Part 1

Going To Disneyland Paris

Sunday - August 9th 2021

The last time we had been to Disneyland Paris was in 2018, so it really was about time to return. Although we had visited Tokyo Disney Resort, Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland in the meantime, we really wanted to return to our Disneyland. Originally we planned on going last year, but thanks to the global pandemic that wasn't possible. Instead we did a themepark tour in Germany last year, where we visited Phantasialand, Movie Park Germany and Legoland Germany. So we thought we should do something similar and should combine Disneyland Paris with other parks. Besides Disneyland we visited Parc Asterix near Paris and Tripsdrill in Germany.

So Sunday early morning we hit the road and drove to France, where we arrived at Disneyland Paris in the afternoon. We stayed again at Disney's Hotel Cheyenne, because last time we really enjoyed it there. Our room was coviniently located next to Starbucks, the saloon and the gift shop. We booked a standard room and it was totally fine for us. After we checked in and dropped off our luggage, we headed straight to Disneyland Park. It felt so good to be back again. Since it was a Sunday, the crowds were big and the waiting times quite long. We hadn't planned anything for our arrival day, so we just enjoyed the atmosphere and checked out the merchandise in the shops. However we did one ride, which was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril. Afterwards we tried the veggie burgers at Cafe Hyperion for dinner. They were okay, but really nothing special. Since the crowds were still huge, we decided to get a welcome drink at the Sportsbar in Disney Village. We spent quite some time there and a few drinks later we strolled through the shops, bought some souvenirs and a spirit jersey for Claudia and then returned to our room.

Themepark Tour 2021 - Part 2

Disneyland Paris

Monday - August 9th 2021

Since we had visited Disneyland Paris many times now, we decided to have a rather relaxed trip, however we wanted to make use of the Extra Magic Hour in the morning. Once we got up, we headed straight to Starbucks to get a coffee for the 20 minutes walk to the parks. When we arrived, the gates were already open for hotel guest. Our first ride for today was Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast followed by Hyperspace Mountain. Although I really like that coaster, I'm not the biggest fan of the Star Wars overlay. Afterwards we left Discoveryland behind and walked over to Frontierland to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the wildest ride in the wilderness. Wait times were still low and so we got in line. Next was Phantom Manor and we were a little bit excited, because since our last visit Phantom Manor got refurbished and enhanced with new effects. We were really happy with the changes and so we decided to have lunch now.

Recently Disneyland Paris started to add vegan options to some of their restaurants and one of them was Silver Spur Steakhouse in Frontierland. The vegan offering sounded really good and so we gave it a tray. We were able to get a walk on table and soon we were greeted by our lovely waiter. Claudia and I both ordered the avocado salad for starter and the vegan skewer for our main course. I'm glad we gave Silver Spur Steakhouse a try, because the vegan menu was really delicious. Now it was time for Pirates of the Caribbean, another favourite of ours. Since it was very crowded and very warm, we returned to our room to relax a bit and hit the parks later again.

In the afternoon we headed back to the parks and since we hadn't been to Walt Disney Studios Park yet, we went there first. Unfortunately the waiting times were still very high and so we just walked around the park and checked out the stores for merchandise. Just recently Disneyland Paris opened a new area at back of the Studios Park dedicated to Pixar's Cars. Due to the upcoming expansion the Studio Tram Tour had to be shortened and was transformed into Cars Roadtrip. Additionally they opened a food truck with a lovely outdoor seating area, where we got something to drink. Afterwards we left the park again and got a couple of drinks at the Sportsbar in Disney Village. Before we returned to Hotel Cheyenne we had dinner at Vapiano.

Themepark Tour 2021 - Part 3

Disneyland Paris

Tuesday - August 10th 2021

Unfortunately today started with rain, but we didn't care and after we bought our coffees at Starbucks, we headed to the parks to make use of the Extra Magic Hour at Disneyland. Once we were greeted by Mickey and Minnie, we got in line for Hyperspace Mountain. Afterwards we walked over to Walt Disney Studios to get on some rides there. First was The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and although we had to skip the library pre show due to Covid-19, it was still an amazing ride. Then we tried to get a standby ticket for Crush's Coaster, but we weren't successful. Instead we gave the new Cars Road Trip a try, which was cute, but we wouldn't do it again. After a drink at the Laugh'n'Go Food Truck we headed back to Disneyland Park.

Back at Disneyland Park we decided to have lunch at Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost, where we both ordered pasta neapolitana. Afterwards it was time for the wildest ride in the wilderness and for churros from Fuente del Oro Bar. Like yesterday we planned on returnig to the hotel to rest a bit from the crowds and the heat, but not before doing some shopping. After our break we had an early dinner at Earl of Sandwich before heading to Walt Disney Studios. There we only did the Ratatouille dark ride because the lines were still pretty long. Later we left the park and checked out the stores in Disney Village.

The rest of the evening we spent at the Skyline Bar at Disney's Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel. The hotel underwent an extensive refurbishment, where it got transformed into a Marvel hotel and with that the Skyline Bar opened. We really enjoyed that fantastic bar and so we had a couple of cocktails until we went back to our hotel.
