Cardiff - London 2015 - Part 8

Canary Wharf And Emirates Air-Line

Friday - May 8th 2015

Like every morning we had breakfast and then we were on our way to Canary Wharf. There is nothing special to see, but we just like the modern architecture and since there wasn't much to do either, we took the DLR to Greenwich. Our first stop was the Greenwich Market, but unfortunately it was under construction and so there weren't many vendors, but at least we got a vegan churro, which was very good. Since the market didn't offer that much, we went to the Old Royal Naval College and ate our wraps, which we got at a bakery in Canary Wharf, in the park. Before we returned to Canary Wharf we took a break in a pub next to the Cutty Sark.

In the afternoon we visited The O2, also known als the Millenium Dome, because since I've seen James Bond - The World is not Enough, which is still my favourite Bond movie, I wanted to see that cool building. There we got a coffee at Starbucks and then it was time for a new attraction London had to offer - The Emirates Air-Line. That's a cable car running from Greenwich Peninsula, next to the O2, to the other side of the Thames and it gives the visitor a fantastic view over London. Afterwards we took the DLR to the Tower of London, but since we have already been there in 2011, we skipped it. Instead we had an early dinner at Pizza Express. Although it was a chain restaurant, the pizzas tasted quite good. Unfortunately it started to rain and so we had a beer at a pub and then we returned to Wandsworth, where we spent the evening in the Alma Pub.
