Chicago, Here We Come!
Tuesday - September 10th 2013
After we got up, we checked out and put our luggage into the car. Before we hit the road, we had a cup of Starbucks coffee at the hotel's quick service restaurant named Timbers. With a hot cup of coffee we were on our way to the windy city, also known as Chicago.

Two hours later we arrived at our hotel. We unloaded and handed our VW Beetle over the the hotel employee, who parked the car for us.
Hotel Felix was conviniently located near the Hard Rock Cafe, and it was only a short walk to the Chicago river. Luckily our room was already available and so we could refresh a bit before we headed into the city.

We had already been to Chicago in
January 2008, but it was so cold that we stayed most of the time in our hotel room. This time it was the other way round and it was really hot. However, our first stop, after we went into the wrong direction, was the
Native Foods Cafe, a vegan restaurant. Since Claudia is vegan, she decided that she wanted to go there and what a good idea it was. We loved the food. I had the Italian meatball sub and Claudia tried a burger and both meals were so delicious that we returned there on the next day.

Today we decided to go to the
Navy Pier, but before we paid a visit to the
Millenium Park. On our way to the Navy Pier we stopped at the Hard Rock Hotel for a refreshing drink, and finally we made it to the pier, right in time for a cruise on Lake Michigan. We chose
Shoreline's Classic Lake Tour, because it offered a wonderful view on the skyline of Chicago and additionally the tour provided us with many informations about the city's history.

The Navy Pier itself was a bit underwhelming and so we took the bus back to our hotel. A refreshing shower later we went to Whole Foods Market for pizza and sushi. Afterwards it was time for the
Hard Rock Cafe, where we spent the rest of the evening.
