Japan 2025 - Part 1

Travel Day

Saturday - October 3rd 2025

Another trip to Japan was upon us. In 2018 we had already been to Japan and we fell in love with that country. So it was only a matter of time until we wanted to return. The time had finally come in 2025 and we planned to travel to Japan for two week again. Saturday early morning we hit the road and drove to Vienna International Airport. along the way we stopped at McDonalds for a quick breakfast and a couple of hours later we arrived in Vienna. Once we dropped off our luggage, we spent some time at the Vienna Lounge enjoying a late breakfast and some drinks while waiting for departure. Finally it was time for take off and our Austrian Airlines flight left on time. During our twelve hours flight we got a couple of drinks and meals, watched movies and Sunday morning we landed at Tokyo Narita Airport.

Japan 2025 - Part 2

Exploring Ginza

Sunday - October 5th 2025

Sunday morning our Austrian Airlines flight arrived at Tokyo Narita Airport. Once we passed immigration and picked up our luggage, we headed to the Ninja Wi-Fi counter to get our portable wi-fi device for the next two weeks. Then we took the Narita Express to Tokyo Station, the train ride took about an hour, where we stopped at T's Tantan vegetarian restaurant for lunch. We had already been there in 2018 and liked it so much that we had to get our first Japanese meal during this trip here. Afterwards we walked to our hotel, which was conveniently located near Tokyo Station. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready yet, but we could leave out luggage at the hotel. So we headed back out and to battle the jetlag we got a coffee at Starbucks first. Then we just strolled around Ginza and checked out the many shops and the Mitsukoshi Department Store with its cute little rooftop park. Later we got two glasses of beer at the Sapporo Beer Bar before returning to the hotel to check in.

We stayed at the Daiwa Roynet Kyobashi and although our room was rather small, it was really nice and since we only stayed for one night that was totally fine. After we refreshed and rested for couple of minutes, we went out again to get dinner. We found a nice restaurant, but unfortunately they ran out of the vegetarian options and so we ended up at McDonald's and got fries. We also came across a Krispy Kreme donut shop and of course we couldn't resist and ordered two delicious donuts before returning to the hotel. By now we were really tired and were happy to go to bed.

Japan 2025 - Part 3

Going To Osaka

Monday - October 6th 2025

After one night we left Tokyo already behind to travel to Osaka. First we checked out and then we headed to the nearest Starbucks across the street. There we had a quick breakfast before taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Shin-Osaka Station. Of course we got some snacks for the train ride, since it would take about three hours to arrive in Osaka. From Osaka Station we took the Expo Liner to our hotel at Universal City. We were a bit early and so our room wasn't ready yet. We left the luggage at the hotel and took the metro to Dontonbori District. There we stopped at Pivot Base, a vegetarian restaurant, for lunch. The food was okay, but nothing special. Afterwards we just strolled around Dontonbori and checked out the shops and tried some mochis. Next stop was Don Quijote, a huge store we knew already from Malysia, where you can buy basically everything.

Since it was already afternoon and there wasn't much else to do, we decided to head back to Universal City to check in to our hotel. In Osaka we stayed at The Singulari Hotel & Sky Spa at Universal Studios Japan right next to Universal CityWalk. Our room was really lovely, quite spacious and offered a nice view over Osaka harbour, what I really liked. After we refreshed a little bit, we headed out to Universal CityWalk, where we got a beer at a bar before taking the train back into the city to get dinner. We found a ramen restaurant called Moon And Back in a shopping mall that was quite popular for its plant based ramen soups. Although we had to wait quite some time to get our food, the ramen soups were really delicious. Afterwards we checked out the rest of the shopping mall and before returning to our hotel we got two cookies at Ben's Cookies for later. From the hotel shop we picked up a can of beer and enjoyed a relaxing evening in our room.
