China 2019 - Part 6

Flying To Hainan

Saturday - June 8th 2019

Today we did not only leave Shanghai Disneyland behind, we also left Shanghai for good and flew to Hainan. After we got up, we packed our stuff and had coffee at Sunnyside Market before we took a taxi to Shanghai International Airport. The taxi ride was a very interesting expereince, because either the driver was drunk or didn't really know how to drive. Nonetheless we made it safe to the airport. At the airport we expected long lines at the security checks, but soon we were at the gate. Since we still had a lot of time to kill, we walked around the shops, got some snacks and had a coffee at Starbucks.

Our flight to Hainan left on time an about three hours later we landed at Hainan Airport. Hainan is an island south of Hong Kong and very popular among Chinese tourists because of its beautiful beaches. Once we collected our luggage we took a taxi to our hotel. For our beach vacation we booked the MGM Grand Sanya, which was located directly at the beach of Yalong Bay. We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and after we completed our check in, we headed to the beach and got some drinks. There we spent the rest of the afternoon until it was time to get ready for dinner. Today we ate at the hotel, which was a mistake, because the veggie selection was actually non existent. However we managed to get some vegetables and rice. Later we had a couple of drinks at the beach bar. The best thing of the beach bar was the BBQ, because there they offered grilled vegan tofu, which was delicious.
