China 2019 - Part 5

Another Day At Shanghai Disneyland

Friday - June 7th 2019

Today was already our last day at Shanghai Disneyland and again we made use of the extra magic hour for Disney hotel guests. On the way to the bus we got an iced coffee at Sunnyside Market. Once we arrived at the park, we walked straight to Tron. At first we planned to ride it twice in a row, but when we returned from the digital world of Tron the waiting time was already one hour. Luckily we were able to secure a fastpass for later in the day.

Tomorrowland got pretty crowded and so we walked over to Treasure Cove to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. To our surprise it was a walk on and so we joined Captain Jack Sparrow on his battle for the sunken treasure twice in a row. Afterwards we headed back to Fantasyland and gave Winnie Pooh's Honey Pot Spin a try. That's Shanghai Disneyland's version of Alice's Tea Cups. It was a cute ride, but it's not Disneyland without the tea cups. For today we had a fastpass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but there was still time and so we did Woody's Round Up first.

Finally it was time for our fastpass. We rode Seven Dwarfs Mine Train already a couple of years ago at Walt Disney World and remembered it to be a fun little coaster. Our memories were right, but it could have been a little bit longer. Since it was already noon we got hungry and decided to give the vegetable dish at Tribal Cafe another try. Shanghai Disney Hotel guests get an extra fastpass per day and we used that one for Raoring Rapids and so after our lunch we prepared to get wet and bought a poncho. Roaring Rapids was basically a copy of Kali River Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom, however it featured a cool looking audioanimatronic. A fun ride later we left the park due to the huge crowds and checked out some shops at Disneytown before we returned to the hotel for a break. On the way out we got a Mickey pretzel, which turned out to be not vegan.

In the late afternoon we headed back to the park just in time to use our fastpass for Tron. We were really happy to ride that amazing rollercoaster for one last time. Afterwards we had dinner at Stargazer Grill, where we got the veggie burger. I'm not sure if the burger was vegan, but at least it tasted good. Since the crowds were still huge, we decided against doing anymore rides. Instead we just walked through the beautiful Alice in Wonderland Maze. Then it was time to say goodbye to Disney's newest themepark and we left the park for a couple of drinks at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel. We had a lot of fun at Shanghai Disneyland, and although it is a very beautiful park, it is not among my favourite Disney parks. It looked like a Disneyland park, but for me it just didn't feel like a Disney park. Nonetheless, I can't wait to return and see Shanghai Disneyland in a couple of years again.
