Pittsburgh 2007 - Part 2

Andy Warhol Museum And Duck Tours

Saturday - September 2nd 2007

Today we had planned to visit the Andy Warhol Museum. So after breakfast we were on our way back into the city and tried to find a parking lot near the museum. Unfortunately it wasn't that easy, because on that day there were many detours due to a marathon. After some time we finally got to the museum.

The museum was very interesting and we spent nearly the whole morning there. Afterwards we had lunch at a pizzeria. The food was okay, but nothing special. Later we drove to a huge shopping center outside Pittsburgh, but before we visited the stunning Baseball Stadium.

In the evening we had planned something special. We did a tour with an amphibian car, that can drive on streets and swim in rivers as well. Later we walked to the Station Square Center, where we had dinner and some drinks at Bar Louie.

Our Life In Bowling Green

BGSU Picnic & Campus Fest

At the beginning of the semester the University held a Picnic & Campus Fest where you could get informations about all university and student organizations. We listened to some bands and had a lot of free food and beverages.

BGSU Homecoming Parade

In the US it is tradition to celebrate Homecoming. That's an event where many former students come back to their university to meet with college friends. The highlight of Homecoming is the parade.

Black Swamp Arts Festival

The Black Swamp Arts Festival is held each year and local artists can sell their paintings and other arts there. We went there with some friends and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with Kettle Corn and Deep Fried Oreos. I have never seen or eaten Deep Fried Oreos, but they were fantastic.

Bowling Green 2007 - Part 1

Bowling Green And Bowling Green State University

Claudia and I had the chance to spend a semester at the Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Of course we both took the chance and so were able to spend six wonderful months in the United States of America.

Bowling Green, Ohio

Bowling Green is a nice small city with 30000 inhabitants in Ohio and approximately 30 km south of Toledo. The city was founded in 1835 by Joseph Gordon, who named it after his hometown in Kentucky. There we rented an apartment for five months, which was okay for the money we paid.

Our Apartment House

Compared to other US cities, Bowling Green was small and so there was no public transport. Since we are coming from a country where even smaller cities of the scale of Bowling Green offer public transport, we had to get used to walk a lot. Nevertheless it was a nice little town and we enjoyed our time there a lot.
