London 2025/26 - Part 3

Exploring London

Tuesday - December 30th 2025

Today we had breakfast at Lockdown Bakehouse and then we headed to Wandsworth Pier from where we took the Thames Clippers into the inner city. Due to construction works the trains to London Waterloo didn't run on schedule and so we gave Uber Boat a try. We bought our tickets via the uber app and soon we were on our way to London. Near Houses of Parliament we got off and then we walked to Trafalgar Square. Along the way we came across a lovely pub and so we had to stop to get a beer. Afterwards we continued our walk through London, because we wanted to visit Waterstones, the huge book store. There we spent quite some time browsing through the huge selection of books. For lunch we planned to stop at Mercato Mayfair, a vibrant food court located in a old church. It was already quite packed, but we managed to get a table at Club Mexicana. This plant based restaurant serves Mexican street food inspired by the streets of Mexico City and Southern California. The food was really delicious, but the location was the real highlight with its glas stained windows.

In the afternoon we decided to take the tube to Canary Wharf, where we just strolled around the modern buildings and skyscrapers. After we checked out Crossrail Place Roof Garden we had a coffee break at Starbucks. We hadn't been to Canary Wharf for quite some time now, but it was really nice to see how the whole area has developed in recent years. Later we returned to Waterloo Station and from there we were able to catch a train to Wandsworth Town. Back in Wandsworth we got a couple of drinks at the Alma pub before getting something for dinner. We had always wanted to try Sambrook's Brewery, which is also located in Wandsworth. Located in an old Victorian brewery building Sambrooks's not only serves beer but also pizzas. So we both ordered pizza and got a drink while enjoying a wonderful evening in that amazing location.
