New Year's Day
Thursday - January 1st 2026
2026 started with breakfast at the Alma hotel and then we headed into the
city. Like yesterday we had to walk to Clapham Junction and from there we took
the train to Waterloo Station. First we checked out the
Leake Street Arches, also known as Grffiti Tunnel, beneath Waterloo Station. Afterwards we
walked along the River Thames to Tate Modern and on to the
Swan pub next to Shakespeare's
Globe. There we got a drink and decided to get lunch at a vegetarian
restaurant named Tofu Vegan. So we continued our walk through the City of
London with all its skyscrapers and banks.
Finally we made it to
Tofu Vegan and were seated
right away. For starters we ordered a spicy cucumber salad and wontons served
in a chili sauce. Then it was time for the main course and we got plant based
gong bao chicken with peanuts and vegan fish in buns. The food was really good
and we would definitely return. Afterwards we walked back to the City of
London and from there we took the tube to London Bridge Station to check out
Hay's Galleria. Since it was already late afternoon we decided to walk back to
Waterloo Station and to catch a train to Wandsworth. Back in Wandsworth we
spent the rest of our last day in London in our favourite pub. A couple of
drinks later we headed to McDonald's for plant based burger with fries before
calling it a day.
