Prague 2009 - Part 1

Arriving In Prague

Friday - July 17th 2009

In July 2009 we planned to go to Prague for a weekend. Friday morning we drove by car from Linz to Prague and arrived at our hotel around noon. The Czech Republic's capital is only a few hours away from our home town.

We stayed in the Vienna International Hotel Angelo Prague. The hotel is part of an Austrian hotel chain and it was for the first time that we tried one of their hotels. That chain also operates two hotels at Disneyland Paris, which we want to try as well. When we checked in, the hotel surprised us with an upgrade to the Executice Floor with a bigger room, free coffee and tea. Our room was very nice, clean and offered a TV, a mini bar and a bathroom. We had a fantastic time there.

Afterwards we walked into the city, since the hotel was only fifteen minutes away from the inner city. We should have taken the subway, because it was so hot.

Since it was already past noon, we were hungry and decided to have lunch at a vegetarian buffet restaurant. The food was okay, but nothing special. Later we did some sightseeing and visited the Jewish Museum of Prague, which was very interesting. The museum was really interesting and the tour included the Jewish Cemetery as well.

Later we returned to our hotel to relax a bit and to get ready for the evening. After a refreshing shower we had a beer at the hotel bar.

A few weeks earlier a new Hard Rock Cafe opened and of course we had dinner there. That time we took the subway to the city, because it was still very warm.

After we were seated, we ordered our drinks and were surprised that we both got two drinks for the price of one. The waitress explained that they were having a Happy Hour and then took our order. Claudia chose the Avocado Salad while I opted for the Veggie Burger.

Due to the Happy Hour we stayed for quite some time and enjoyed the music and the atmosphere. Before we left I got another pin for my collection. After dinner we strolled through the city and tried to make some pictures in the dark with our new Sony DSLR. Back in the hotel we had another drink at the hotel bar and then we went to bed.
