United States 2013 - Part 5

Meeting Even More Good Friends

Thursday - September 5th 2013

After coffee and a bagel we checked out and were on our way to Toledo to visit another shopping mall. However this shopping trip was a bit disappointing. First of all I remembered the mall to be nicer and second we weren't in the mood for shopping. So we got a smoothie from Jamba Juice. Later we got some Halloween stuff and went to the Disney Store.

Around noon we were back in Bowling Green and it was no surprise that we had dinner at Chipotle again. Then we enjoyed a cup of coffee at Starbucks until it was time to meet more good friends, who live near Bowling Green. Claudia and I stayed with them for the weekend until Monday.

It was so great to see them again and since we had to catch up with so many things we had dinner at home. Later they showed us the local high school, because tomorrow we were supposed to talk to some classes about Austria and Europe. Some glasses of wine later, we went to bed.

United States 2013 - Part 6

A Day At An US High School

Friday - September 6th 2013

A friend of ours is a teacher in an US High School and so we got invited to talk to some classes about the differences between Austria and the United States. The students were eager and asked a lot of questions and Claudia and I enjoyed answering them. In the evening we had dinner at a local Italian restaurant named 5th Street Pub and later we just walked around a classic car exhibition. We spent the rest of the evening with some glasses wine and beer and watching the movie "Holes".

United States 2013 - Part 7

Cedar Point

Saturday - September 7th 2013

In 2007 we had already been to Cedar Point and enjoyed that park a lot, especially the huge and fast coasters. Since we were basically around the corner, we decided to go there once again. Unfortunately the park was only open on weekends and on Saturday only from 1:00pm to 10:00pm. Nevertheless we got, thanks to our frinds, some discounted tickets from AAA and soon we were on our way to Cedar Point. After we arrived there, we got in line for the park opening. Our first ride was the Millenium Force. Since the crowds were big that day, we had to wait for one hour, however that ride was totally worth all the waiting time.

Next was Maverick and I didn't enjoy the ride as much as six years ago, since it was very bumpy and uncomfortable. Now it was time for a short break and so we had a glass of beer. Unfortunately due to safety reasons the park had to close down all the rides. Honestly I didn't understand that, because it wasn't even raining, just a few drops. I never experienced such a move in any other themepark, but we used the time to get some veggie dogs and fries.

Later we got in line for the newest park addition named Gatekeeper. What a fun ride! It was really smooth and enjoyable. We had one more ride on our To-Do list and that was the Top Thrill Dragster and so we queued. Again the park shut down all the rides due to some rain drops. Nevertheless we waited and an hour later the ride reopened. Now the real fun began, because they were facing technical problems and the coaster was shut down again. Again we waited in line, but they couldn't find the problem. So we waisted a lot of time there, but before we left the park we rode the Magnum XL coaster. Dispite those issues we had a lot of fun at Cedar Point.
