We are not the biggest hikers, but every now and then we enjoy hiking in the mountains. A couple of years ago the first only vegetarian Alpine lodge opened in the Austrian Alps and since it's just an hour away from Salzburg, we decided to give it a try. So Saturday morning we hit the road towards Zederhaus and from there we had to drive to Schliereralm, from where our tour started. First we had to tackle a steep incline and had to pass many cows, but the view along the way was a big reward. We still had to hike for a couple of hours, however the landscape with the mountains and small lakes was really beautiful.

In the early afternoon we finally arrived at Franz Fischer Hütte and since many other hikers were already enjoying the beautiful waether, we were lucky to get a table outside on the patio. Soon we ordered our drinks and food and then we waited to dig in. It didn't take long and the waiter brought our Gröstls, hearty, seasoned pan-fried potatoes with tofu. The food was delicious and of course we had to get a cake afterwards too. After we paid, we continued our tour back to Schliereralm. In the valley we followed a beautiful mountain river to Lake Schlierersee, where our car was parked. After that beautiful day in the mountains we drove home to Salzburg.

Singapore & Malaysia 2023 - Part 1

Travel Day

Friday - August 4th 2023

Vacation Time! Friday after work we hit the road, drove to Munich Airport and parked the car for the next couple of weeks. After we dropped off our luggage, we bought some snacks for the flight and then we tried to find a restaurant for dinner. We stopped at Cafe Dallmayr for pasta and drinks until it was time for boarding. Our Lufthansa flight towards Singapore had a short delay, because we had to wait for a connecting flight, but finally we departed Munich and our long journey to Singapore started.

Singapore & Malaysia 2023 - Part 2

Arriving In Singapore

Saturday - August 5th 2023

After an uneventful flight we landed at Sigapore's Changi Airport in the late afternoon local time. Once we picked up our luggage we went through immigration and then we were on our way to the famous Jewel, a nature themed shopping and dining complex at Changi Airport. Jewel is best known for the amazing indoor waterfall named The Vortex. We were searching for a restaurant or a bar to grab something to eat, but since it was very crowded, we decided to leave and head to our hotel.

In Singapore we stayed at the Dao by Dorsett Hotel, which was about an hour by metro from the airport near the finicial district. Check in was quick and easy and soon we could refresh in our lovely room. First we checked out the hotel and its fantastic rooftop pool and then we got a welcome beer at the hotel bar. Since we hadn't had dinner yet, we headed out into the city.

By accident we stumbled accross the Lau Pa Sat Food Market, because of the smell of the grilled satay skewers. At first we got a beer and then we searched for vegan and vegetarian options. There were so many Indian food outlets, so I got a dosa filled with potatoes while Claudia had a plain dose with different dips. We enjoyed the realxed atmosphere and got another beer until we returned to our hotel.
