New Year's Day
Monday - January 1st 2024
The good thing about not celebrating New Year's Eve was that we got up early
and had the quiet city to our own. First we got coffee at Lockdown Bakery and
then we took the train to Waterloo Station, where we got crispy empanada
sticks for breakfast. Afterwards we walked along the River Thamse to Tate
Modern to check out what the museum had to offer. Not a lot changed since last
year and so we continued our walking tour to Leadenhall Market.
Leadenhall Market looked
gorgeous and to our surprise a small pub was open and needless to say we had
to get a couple of beers to celebrate the new year. Since no shops were open,
we headed to the nearest tube station and took the metro to Oxford Street to
do some shopping. In the afternoon we had a lunch reservation at the
Hard Rock Cafe Piccadilly Circus. Claudia ordered the nachos while I got the veggie burger. Unfortunately the
food was a little bit underwhelming, but we still had a nice time there
crossing off another Hard Rock Cafe location from our list. Afterwards we took
the train back to Wandsworth and spent the rest of the evening at The Alma pub
before having a late dinner with veggie burgers at McDonald's. Back at the
hotel we packed our luggage for tomorrow and watched TV.

Returning Home
Tuesday - January 2nd 2024
Today we had to get up pretty early to cathc our flight back home. After we
checked out, we took the train into the city and from there to Gatwick
Airport. There we had a coffee at Starbucks and a sandwich for breakfast
before departure. Around noon we arrived in Salzburg and spent a relaxing day
at home.
