Scotland 2009 - Part 8

Sightseeing In Glasgow

Tuesday - September 15th 2009

In Glasgow we stayed at The Menzies Hotel. The hotel was located near the city center and offered a pool, but we had never used it. Our room was clean and had a bathroom and a TV.

We didn't book breakfast in the hotel and so we went to Starbucks for a coffee and a sandwich. Afterwards we took a walk around the city and made some pictures. Since Scotland is famous for its whiskey, we went to one of the many whiskey shops and bought a few small bottles for our families and friends at home. At noon we decided to have lunch at Pizza Hut, because we don't have that restaurant chain in Austria. It was okay, but nothing special and the pizzas were definitely not as good as real Italian pizzas.

Later we returned to our hotel to change our clothes, because it was getting warmer and warmer. Since the weather was so nice, we did a walk along the River Clyde, which was just a few minutes away from the hotel.

Since the meals at Stereo were so delicious, we decided to eat there again. Today we didn't have to wait for a table and ordered soon. As starters we had Baba Ghanoush again and breads with olive spread. For the main course we opted for Gnocchi and an Artichoke Risotto. Of course we had dessert, too. We ordered a cake and fried bananas with ice cream. The meals were as good as yesterday.

Before we returned to the hotel, we made one last visit to the Drum & Monkey Pub and enjoyed our last Scottisch beers. Later we returned to our room to pack our stuff.

Today after breakfast we drove back to Edinburgh Airport and returned our Opel Insignia at Europcar. A few hours later we flew back to Munich.
