Expo 2025 Osaka
Tuesday - October 7th 2025
The first big highlight of our trip was upon us, because we were going to
visit the
Expo 2025 Osaka. After breakfast at Starbucks we took the train to the expo site. Although
we knew that the Expo 2025 was quite popular, we still were a little bit
surprised by the huge crowds waiting to get in. We booked our timed entry
tickets in advance and when our time came up were were allowed to enter the
huge expo area. Our first stop was the merchandise store, where we bought our
souvenirs and then it was time to explore the many pavilions of the
participating countries. We started with Nepal, but soon came across a plant
based food kiosk and of course we had to get a snack and drinks.

After our short break it was time to check out the rest of the expo. The
crowds were really huge and so the lines for the different pavilions were
long. Luckily for Korea we won entry tickets in an online lottery and
therefore we were able to skip the line. The show inside the Korea pavilion
was nice, but nothing to write home about. One of the highlights was the
wooden ring that enclosed the vast expo area. According to Guinness World
Records it was the world's largest wooden architectural structure. From
the top we had an amazing view over the park. While taking a walk on top of
the wooden structure, we met a another couple from Austria and they gave us a
tip on how to visit the Austrian pavilion. When preseting our Austrian
passports we will be allowed to enter without queuing. Of course we tried that
and soon we were inside our home country's beautiful exhibition. There
they showed a wonderful presentation about Austria and its deep connection
with Japan. The rest of the day we just spent strolling around the expo and
getting a beer before leaving. We had a fantastic time despite the huge crowds
and were happy to visit a world expo.

Back at the hotel we took a shower and relaxed a little bit before heading out
again. Since we walked quite a bit today, we decided to stay at Universal
CityWalk and to have dinner at the
Hard Rock Cafe. Claudia and I both ordered the plant based burger with fries, which was
really good. Afterwards we checked out the stores at Universal CityWalk before
returning to the hotel and enjoying a relaxing evening with a beer in our
room.
