Doha Quest
Monday - November 11th 2024
Our day started very relaxed with breakfast and then we spent the morning
swimming and sunbathing at the pool before heading out into the city. Since we
both enjoy themeparks, we had to try Doha's biggest indoor themepark called
Doha Quest. We arrived there in the late morning and once we had our expensive tickets,
we started exploring the indoor park. To our surprise it was quite packed with
school groups, but luckily the kids left soon and we basically had the park
for our own. Our first stop was Oryx Express, small roller coaster, followed
by Legend of the Golden Oryx, a 3D motion simulator, that took us on a journey
to find the golden oryx. Both attraction were fun, but next was the highlight
of the park. According to Guinnes World Records Epiq Coaster is the world's
tallest indoor rollercoaster. The ride was indeed quite fast and thrilling.

Since we had the main attraction of the park already in our books, we just
strolled around and did all the smaller rides, like Fly with Flap or Time
Travel, a fun family thrill ride. Another highlight was Wings of Destiny, a 3D
flying theatre about the history of flying. I really enjoy flying theatres and
that one was not disappointing at all. Doha Quest wasn't big and so were ready
to leave, but before we did, we bought some souvenirs and rode Magma Blast,
the other big thrill ride in the park. Magma Blast was a thrilling shot and
drop tower themed after geothermal energies blasting into the skies.

After we left Doha Quest, we drove to the Museum of Islamic Art. We didn't go
inside, but I wanted so see the building, because of its interesting
architecture. There we just walked around the park from where we had a
wonderful over to Doha West Bay on the other side of the bay. Since we got
hungry, we decided to check out Mina District next. Mina District, or also
known as
Old Doha Port, is a shopping and dining location that was built specifically for the FIFA
World Cup. Although it was a nice place, it was quite disappointing too,
because most of the shops and restaurants were already closed. At least we
found a restaurant and got a salad for a late lunch.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped along Al Corniche, Doha's bayside
road, to get a glimpse of the stunning skyscrapers of Doha West Bay. Back at
the hotel we spent some time at the pool before heading out for dinner. Today
we tried a plant based restaurant called
Evergreen Organics at
the nearby Doha Gate Mall. I got a burrito while Claudia had a bowl. The food
was okay, but nothing special. The rest of the evening we spent checking out
Doha Gate Mall and Doha City Mall, where we stopped at Krispy Creme Doughnuts
for a treat. Afterwards we returned to the hotel and spent a relaxing evening
watching TV.
