Motiongate Dubai
Tuesday - May 7th 2024
Another day, another themepark. Today slept in and then we had breakfast at
the lovely hotel terrace. We really loved the breakfast buffet at the Crowne
Plaza, due to the huge selection. There was something for everyone. Once we
finished our coffees we hit the road towards
Dubai Parks and Resorts, becuase
today we wanted to visit Motiongate Dubai.

Dubai Parks and Resorts were about 45 minutes by car away from our hotel.
When we arrived at the park entrance, we were the only ones. The weather was
really hot so maybe potential visitors rather stayed at the pool than
visiting a themepark. On the other hand, the themeparks in Dubai have in
general low crowds.
Motiongate Dubai is a movie based themepark centered around
movie studios like Lionsgate, Columbia Pictures and DreamWorks. Additionally
there's a Smurfs land and Hollywood. Once the gates opened we headed
directly to Lionsgate with its The Hunger Games attractions. First we did
Capitol Bullet Train, a launched coaster, that was really fun, followed by
Panem Aerial Tour, a mediocre motion simulator. Next was Now You See Me High
Roller, a rather rough spinning coaster based on the Now You See Me movie
franchise.

Next stop was DreamWorks, which was completly indoors and that was really
nice thanks to the air condition. Outside it was already pretty hot, so
being inside was very welcomed. DreamWorks is home to Shrek, Madagascar,
Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon. Not only were the lands
beautifully themed, but also featured some wonderful attraction. Our
highlight was Dragon Gliders, an inverted power coaster themed after How To
Train Your Dragon. We also did the Madagascar Hot Pursuit rollercoaster and
the Shrek's Merry Fairy Tale Journey dark ride before having lunch at Mr.
Ping's Noodle Shop, where we both got the fried rice. To our surprise the
food was really good. Afterwards we did Kung Fu Panda - Unstoppable
Awesomeness, a really bad motion simulator. Then we checked out Smurfs
Village that was home to a rollercoaster called Smurfs Village Express and
to the Smurfs Studio Tours dark ride. Both rides were okay, but nothing to
write home about.

Despite the very hot weather we had a wonderful day at Motiongate Dubai. The
crowd levels were very low and the park itself was also very nice and a lot
of fun. Once we left the park, we drove over to the outlet center and got
iced coffee at Starbucks. Then we browsed through the shops before driving
back to the hotel. There we spent some time at the pool and later we had
dinner at
Salt inside Dubai Marina Mall. We both had the delicious
Impossible Burger. The rest of the evening we spent at Dubai Marina Mall and
later we enjoyed some beers at the hotel.
