Legoland Germany
Thursday - October 15th 2020
The last stop of our themepark roadtrip took us to
Legoland Germany. Right
after breakfast we left the Holiday Inn in Cologne and drove to Bavaria.
Around noon we arrived at Legoland and headed straight to the reception of
the Lego Holiday Village, where our hotel was located. Unfortunately our
room wasn't ready yet, but we got our park tickets. From the hotel it was
just a short walk to the park. Since we hadn't had lunch yet, we decided to
check out the restaurants first. Right at the first food kiosk in the
Egyptian area they offered a vegan couscous dish, which was quiet tasty.
After that quick lunch we got in line for Temple Expedition, our first ride
at Legoland.

After Temple Expedition we just walked around to check out the park. In
Pirates Land we came across a small spinning flat ride and since no one was
queueing, we gave it a try. It was okay, but I wouldn't waste any time on a
busy day for it. We knew beforehand that Legoland is aimed more towards
families with little kids, but the park still had some interesting attractions
to offer. One of those attractions was Lego Ninjago, an interactive dark ride,
for which we got in line next. Lego Ninjago was indeed an impressive dark ride
and we enjoyed it a lot. Now it was time for Lego Racers, our first
rollercoaster at Legoland Germany. Although the coaster was nothing special,
it was worth riding it. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very good today and
it started to rain. so we headed to the next restaurant, got a table and
ordered some pretzels and a couple of beers.

Once the rain stopped we headed out into the park again. Our first stop was
another spinning ride called Lego Techno Schleuder, similar to Disneyland's
Tea Cups ride, but maybe a little bit faster. Afterwards we admired the Lego
buildings in Miniature Land before we got a great view over Legoland from the
spinning observation tower. One of the must do things for us was to get Lego
bricks shaped fries, but they didn't tatse any good. After that disappointment
we rode two more coasters in Knight's Kingdom. The first one was Dragon Hunt
and the bigger one was Fire Dragon. Since the themepark day was coming to an
end, we decided to get something to eat for dinner and stopped at the food
kiosk in Lego Ninjago Land. There we got fried noodles with vegetable spring
rolls. It was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. On the way out we rode Lego
Ninjago one more time.

Now it was time to check out our room. Claudia and I stayed at the Legoland
Castle Hotel, themed like a medieval Lego castle. Our room was nice and quite
big with many Lego figures on the wall. I'm sure kids like the room a lot.
After we unpacked our stuff, we checked out the Lego Store in the Holiday
Village and the other hotels. Back at the hotel we got a drink at the bar and
then we spent the rest of the evening watching TV.
