A Day In Strasbourg
Friday - August 22nd 2014
In the morning our ship arrived in
Strasbourg and before we headed into the city, we had breakfast. After a wonderful cup of coffee and a few rolls later, we waited for the shuttle bus that picked us up in front of the ship.

Most of Strasbourg's city center was a pedestrian zone, so the bus dropped us off at the bus station near the pedestrian zone. From there we had to walk a few minutes. Our first stop was the
Strasbourg Cathedral, a very beautiful church, and of course we had to go inside.

Afterwards we walked to
Petite France, a beautiful district with many half-timbered houses and baroque sandstone buildings. Petite France was named UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. There we strolled around to take a look at those beautiful and old buildings. Later we enjoyed an icecold beer at a nearby bar to rest a bit.

In the early afternoon we were on our way to the
European Parliament. We took the tram from the city center to the parliament, but it was very disappointing, because it wasn't possible to see the building from inside. There wasn't even a visitors center and so we took the tram back into the city. We still had some time left until the bus picked us up again. So we did some window shopping and had a glass of beer at Place Kleber.

Back on the ship a dessert buffet was already awaiting us and of course we got a cup of coffee and some cakes. We spent the rest of the afternoon on the sun deck with a cocktail and watching the locks of the power station passing by.

Since it was our last evening on the MS Amadeus Silver, the captain hosted a reception in the lounge. After a few words and many acknowledgments, a piano player gave a short concert and then it was already time for dinner. For the captain's dinner the kitchen served another delicious five course meal.

Returning Home
Saturday - August 23rd 2014
Early in the moring we arrived in Basel, Switzerland. After breakfast we had to check out and a taxi took us to the railway station. From there we had to take the train back to Cologne, but we still had some time until the train departed. So we went to Starbucks and had a coffee. Around noon we left Basel and five hours later we arrived in Cologne. We got our car and drove back to Salzburg.
