Walt Disney World - Part 7

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Monday - January 21st 2008

At first we had planned to spend the day not in the parks, because we got extra tickets for the highlight of our Disney vacation, Disney's Pirates and Princess Party, but when we checked in, the helpful Castmember told us that an additional park ticket would only be $2 per person. Of course we got the extra tickets and spent the day in Disney's Hollywood Studios again. Like yesterday our day started with bagels and spreads at the Starring Rolls Cafe. Then we did Tower of Terror  twice in a row, followed by Rock'n'Roller Coaster.

Afterwards we watched Voyage of the Little Mermaid. In that show we were taken under the sea to meet Ariel and her friends from the movie. It was a cute little show, but it was aimed more towards kids. Then we were thinking of giving the Magic of Disney Animation a try, but we skipped it, since we did a nearly identical attraction in Disneyland Paris already.

Next was one of my favorite attractions in Disney's Hollywood Studios called Walt Disney: One Man's Dream. That's an exhibition about the history of Walt Disney himself and the company he founded. Afterwards we did some shopping on Sunset and Hollywood Blvd. and bought some pins and a Walt Disney World hoodie.

Since it was already noon, we decided to have lunch at the Toy Story Pizza Planet again. We both ordered the Vegetable Pizza and a Coke.

Then we did Sounds Dangerous!, an audio show starring Drew Carey, but we didn't like it at all. It was a waste of time and hopefully it will be replaced soon. Before we returned to the hotel to get ready for the Pirates and Princess Party, we rode Tower of Terror once more.

Disney's Pirate and Princess Party

After we found out that Disney is doing a Pirate and Princess Party, it was clear that we have to attend it. We needed an extra ticket, because the party was held after the park closed and it wasn't included in the general park admission. The event started at 7pm and was held in the Magic Kingdom park.

The whole park, including all attractions and most shops and restaurants, was open until 1am. The Castmembers were dressed as pirates and they had a lot of fun, like most guests. After we arrived at the park, we had dinner at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Diner and then it was time to meet the most famous pirate in the world, Captain Jack Sparrow. We got a picture with him and afterwards we did all the major attractions, like Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain or the Haunted Mansion.

There was a parade as well, themed around pirates and princesses. It was better than Disney's Dreams Come True Parade, but still not as good as the parades in France.

Of course there was a fireworks, too, and it was amazing. It was the best one we had ever seen and it seemed Disney wanted to blow up the castle.

During the party there was a treasure hunt for children, but we, like many other adults, participated as well and that's what we got:

It was an amazing evening and we had a lot of fun. We also purchased some limited edition pins of the party.
