Walt Disney World - Part 4

EPCOT

Friday - January 18th 2008

Today the park we were looking forward the most was on our To Do list. EPCOT, which stands for Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow, is devided into two parts, Future World and World Showcase. The latter features many different countries, like a world's fair, while Future World is about technology.

We took the bus to EPCOT and arrived when the park opened. World Showcase opened and hour later and so we had enough time to do the major rides in Future World first.

Our first ride was Test Track, a high speed car test facility. Here guests learn how cars are tested to be safe for the everyday use. That attraction was so much fun, that we did it twice a row. After Test Track we queued for Mission: Space, which simulates a flight to Mars. It was very intense, but I liked it a lot, while Claudia wasn't very happy.

Later we had breakfast at The Land Pavilion. I had a Choco Croissant and a coffee while Claudia ordered a Cinnamon Bun. Afterwards we did the Living With The Land attraction, a boat tour through a greenhouse to show agriculture works. It was better than we expected. Then it was time for one of the best Disney attractions ever - Soarin' Over California. The attraction simulates a hang glider flight over California.

Next was The Seas With Nemo And Friends Pavilion, which is all about the seas, but we only did the Nemo ride through the aquariums. During the ride you meet sveral characters from the Pixar movie Finding Nemo. Since World Showcase wasn't still open, we made a Journey Into Imagination at the Imagination Pavillion first.

Finally World Showcase opened and our journey to different countries was about to begin. Our first country was Mexico. There we did the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, a dark ride similar to it's a small world. After that nice boat tour through Mexico, we met Donald Duck and got a picture with him.

The next stop on our journey through the world was Norway. That pavillon featured a dark ride called Maelstrom, a boat tour through Norway's history and mythology.

After Norway we made a quick stop in China, but unfortunately the main attraction Reflections Of China was closed and so we moved on to Germany.

The German Pavilion doesn't feature any attraction, just restaurants and shops. Since Austria is a neighbouring country of Germany and we speak German, too, we have felt a little bit like being at home. Even some Castmembers working there spoke German. We got a German beer and a Pretzel and enjoyed the atmosphere.

In Italy we enjoyed a glass of wine and afterwards we visited Japan, where we strolled through the Mitsukoshi Department Store.

Since it was already early afternoon, we decided to have lunch in Morocco. We shared the Veggie Platter with hummus and variuos salads at the Tangerine Cafe and it was delicious.

Afterwards we watched Impressions De France, a movie about the Grande Nation, in the France Pavilion. Later we got a coffee and a croissant and relaxed a bit.

We spent the rest of the day touring the remaing countries. First we watched The British Invasion, a Beatles cover band, in the United Kingdom and then we walked over to Canada.

Illuminations - Reflections of Earth is a night time show on World Showcase Lagoon and it should not be missed.

After the show and the fireworks we returned to our hotel. We had dinner and enjoyed a nice evening at the bar.
