Summer Vacation 2022 - Part 5

Bad Aussee

Thursday - August 11th 2022

For today we planned a two hours hiking tour on top of Loser Mountain. So after breakfast we took the scenic route to the top of Loser Mountain, where parked the car and started our hiking tour. The weather was wonderful and so we had a marvelous view over Bad Aussee and Lake Altausee. The first stop was a small mountain lake and after another ascent we reached the so called Loser Window, a huge hole in a stone wall shaped like a window. Once we reached the summit cross on the top of Loser Mountain we took a short break and then headed back to the car.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped at Restaurant Blaa Alm for a late lunch. Claudia and I shared French fries and got a cake each for dessert. Afterwards we drove back to the hotel, where we realxed at the pool and enjoyed the spa area. For dinner we got grilled vegetables as a started, followed by a creamy soup for me and a vegetable soup for Claudia. The main course was a hearty bean and potatoe stew. The last course was a small cake. Afterwards we had a glass of wine on our balcony until it was time for bed.

Summer Vavation 2022 - Part 6

Hallstätter See

Friday - August 12th 2022

Today we booked a boat tour on Lake Hallstatt and that meant we had to get up early. First a bus brought us to a small village called Obertraun. There we boarded the traditional flat boat that took us on beautiful early morning boat tour accross the lake to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Hallstatt. Unfortuantely we didn't get off the boat, we only got to see the marvelous village from the boat. Since we had already been to Hallstatt before, it was okay. Back in Obertraun the real highlight of the tour was about to happen. The hotel organized a wonderful breakfast by the lake, which was great since the sun was coming out and it got pretty warm.

Back at the hotel we relaxed by the pool, spent some time at the gym and once the rain started to fall, we enjoyed the spa area for the rest of the afternoon. For a late lunch we stopped at the hotel restaurant for a salad and fried pasta. After a relaxing afternoon it was time for dinner, which started with falafel balls followed by a delicious creamy soup and sorbet before the main course. I got cheese noodles and Claudia had a vegetable dish. For dessert we both ordered a cake.
