Tulln To Vienna
Saturday - September 19th 2026
Today was already the last day of our Danube Bike Trail tour and since we only
had about 50 kilometers left, we decided to sleep a little bit longer. After
breakfast we checked out and soon we were on our way to Austria's capital
city. The scenery was once again rather boring until we reached
Klosterneuburg, a small town near Vienna, where we decided to take a look at
the
monestary. Before arriving in Vienna Claudia and I stopped at a bar right next to the
bike trail and got a drink.

Soon we made it to the Donauinsel, or Danube Island, a long artificial island
in the middle of the Danube river. Once built for flood protection has
now become the main recreational area of Vienna. It is also used for events
and today the
Veganmania, a festival about a plant based life style, took place. There were so many
food trucks and so we decided to get something to eat. Our train back to
Salzburg departed from the other side of the city and so we still had to
manage to ride our bikes for about ten kilometers through the busy city. We
underestimated how long it would take us to reach the train station, but we
made it on time and caught our train. With the train ride back home our Danube
Bike Trail tour ended.
