Malcesine And Garda
Saturday - April 20th 2024
Today was already our last full day. After breakfast we hit the road and drove
north to Malcesine. The way there was a bit of a hassle, because our
navigation system took us through the most narrow streets I have ever seen,
but eventually we arrived in Malcesine, which is a bout an hour north of
Sirmione. We parked our car near the cable car since we wanted to go up to
Monte Baldo. Once we had our tickets we were on our way to the top, where we just walked
around and got a drink while enjoying the sun.

Back in Malcesine we just strolled around that beautiful little town while
searching for a lunch snack. We found a bakery and bought baked goods, which
were like filed pitas, but they tasted really good. Next on our list was the
Scaligero Castle
of Malcesine. From the castle tower we had a wonderful view over the village
and Lake Garda. The castle itself was also worth a visit. After visiting the
castle we got a drink and then we just walked through the narrow, but
beautiful streets of Malcesine. Before we left we got some sweets and then we
were on the way to Garda.

Our last stop before returning to Sirmione was Garda, a couple of kilometres
south of Malcesine. Once we found a car park we headed into the village. Like
Malcesine or Sirmione, Garda was also a picturesque little town with a lovely
promenade along the lake. There we stopped at a coffee house and enjoyed an
Aperol Spritz while enjoying the warm weather and looking at Lake Garda. After
checking out the little shops we walked back to the car and returned to
Sirmione.
Back in Sirmione we refreshed a bit and until we headed out for dinner Claudia
and I got a drink at the hotel bar. We went to the same restaurant like
yesterday, where be started with bruschetta, which we shared, and for our main
course we both ordered pasta. The food was really good, but for dessert we had
to get ice cream at one of the many ice cream parlors on the old town. Back at
the hotel we spent a quiet evening in the room that was interrupted by a loud
party in the bar below our room.

After we breakfast we checked out and soon we were on our way back home. Along
the way we stopped at a supermarket to buy some Italian products and goodies
for home. In the early afternoon we arrived in a rainy Salzburg.
