Movieland
Friday - April 19th 2024
Next day, next themepark. After breakfast we hit the road again and drove to
Movieland, the second themepark at Lake Garda. We arrived a little bit early and the
park wasn't open yet, but soon we were inside and were greeted with a lovely
show on Main Street. Our first attraction of the day was Expedition Pangea,
which was really cool, because we got to drive our own little jeep through the
forest to encounted dinosaurs. Next was the huge inverted rollercoaster named
Diabolik, but that one was really rough. Afterwards we tried something
special, a first generation Intamin free fall tower, and that was really fun,
before doing Space Mission, a shot and drop tower. Now it was time for a very
cool attraction called Antares Space Flight. We had never experienced anything
like that before. In that simulator, which is a centrifuge, we traveled
through space to Mars.

Afterwards we took a break and got two beers and pretzel while enjoying the
lovely weather. Then we checked out the kids friendly zone, where I got to
ride a swinging plane and an Octopuss flat ride. Both rides were okay, but
nothing to wait in line for. Since it was already noon, we decided to get
lunch. We stopped at a Mexican restaurant that sold vegetarian tacos and
surprisingly they were really good for a themepark.

In the afternoon it was time for the wet attractions. First we got in line for
KITT Super Jet, a speed boat ride through the huge water arena that was based
on the famous TV series Knight Rider. Then we did a really ackward attraction
called U-571, that takes place in a submarine bunker during the World War II.
It was a terrible attraction, not only because we got really wet, but also
because of the sensitive theme, but I'm glad we did it. To dry up again we
rode the monorail through the park and then we stopped for a coffee and donuts
on Main Street.

Coffee Break

After our coffee break we did the family friendly tour of the Horror House
before doing Magma 2.1, which is a one of a kind attraction. Professional
stuntmen drive a huge truck with quite some speed through a power plant that
is about to explode. Before we left Movieland we had a cheese filled croissant
on Main Street and then we watched their water stuntshow, that was clearly
inspired by Universal's Waterworld, but it was still fun to watch. Back in
Sirmione we had an Aperol Spritz in the hotel until we headed out for dinner
at Ristorante San Lorenzo, where Claudia ordered pasta while I had a pizza.
The rest of the evening we strolled with ice cream in our hands through
Sirmione and then enjoyed a quite evening in our room.
