Gardaland
Thursday - April 18th 2024
Our second day in Italy started with breakfast before hitting the road towards
Gardaland. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best today since it was raining a
little bit, but that also meant that the crowd levels might be low. Once we
arrived the park was about to open and soon we were inside Gardaland, where we
headed directly to Raptor, one of their biggest coasters. Raptor still had
some technical problems and so we walked over the Oblivion, the park's B&M
dive coaster. Oblivion was an exciting and thrilling coaster followed by a
tamer ride on the Flying Island, from where we got a freat view over the park.
Next was a family coaster called Mammut, which was okay, but nothing special.

Now it was time for the new Jumanji dark ride, one of the highlights of
Gardaland. Jumanji was really cool and exceeded my expactions. After we did
the Jumanji maze nearby, we got hungry and decided to find something for
lunch. We stopped at Blue Tornado, where we ordered veggie burgers with fries.
The burgers were only okay, but at least the fries were good. Afterwards we
got in line for the Blue Tornado coaster, an inverted coaster that was a
little bit bumpy but still fun. Next was Raptor, the B&M wing coaster that
was closed in the morning and that rollercoaster didn't disappoint at all.
Then we just strolled around the park and checked out the shops and the
merchandise.

Since it was rather cold we got a hot cup of coffee and a croissant to warm up
again. Due the cold weather we decided against the water rides and instead we
did some smaller coasters and their version of Disney's Pirates of the
Caribbean called I Corsari - La Vendetta Del Fantasma, which was really good.
Then we did Space Vertiga, a free fall tower, checked out the Kung Fu Panda
Academy and rode the Monorail. Before we left Gardaland we enjoyed a glass of
beer while reminiscing about our lovely day. Gardaland was a beautiful park
with some great attractions that is definitely worth a visit.

After we left Gardaland we drove back to our hotel in Sirmione. Along the way
we stopped at several supermarkets to buy some Italian goodies to bring home.
Back in Sirmione we refreshed a bit and then we headed out for dinner to a
neraby restaurant. Claudia and I both had a pizza, which was delicious, before
taking a walk into the old part of Sirmione where we got ice cream and just
enjoyed walking around. Back at the hotel we had an Aperol Spritz and spent a
relaxing evening in our room.
