Franz Fischer Lodge
Saturday - September 2nd 2023
We are not the biggest hikers, but every now and then we enjoy hiking in the
mountains. A couple of years ago the first only vegetarian Alpine lodge opened
in the Austrian Alps and since it's just an hour away from Salzburg, we
decided to give it a try. So Saturday morning we hit the road towards
Zederhaus and from there we had to drive to Schliereralm, from where our tour
started. First we had to tackle a steep incline and had to pass many cows, but
the view along the way was a big reward. We still had to hike for a couple of
hours, however the landscape with the mountains and small lakes was really
beautiful.

In the early afternoon we finally arrived at
Franz Fischer Hütte and
since many other hikers were already enjoying the beautiful waether, we were
lucky to get a table outside on the patio. Soon we ordered our drinks and food and
then we waited to dig in. It didn't take long and the waiter brought our
Gröstls, hearty, seasoned pan-fried potatoes with tofu. The food was
delicious and of course we had to get a cake afterwards too. After we paid,
we continued our tour back to Schliereralm. In the valley we followed a
beautiful mountain river to Lake Schlierersee, where our car was parked.
After that beautiful day in the mountains we drove home to Salzburg.
