Since Claudia and I hadn't been away from home since London, except for a
night in Munich, we decided to go to Ljublijana for a much needed long weekend
break. We got up early packed our stuff and soon we hit the road towards
Slovenia. On the way to Ljubljana we stopped at Lake Bled. There we hiked to
Castle Bled, but the line to get into the castle was too long and so we just
did a short walk along the lake. Since there wasn't anything else to do, we
hit the road again and 45 minutes later we arrived in Ljubljana.

Our modern hotel named
Cityhotel was conveniently
located near the Old Town but due to construction zones it took us a while to
find it. After we finally found the entrance to the hotel's parking garage, we
checked in. We got a nice room facing the courtyard of the hotel and that
meant that it was very quiet. Once we unpacked our luggage, we headed into the
inner city and were surprised how lovely the Old Town of Ljubljana was.
Basically the whole inner city is a pedestrian zone filled with restaurants
and lovely bars.

At a nearby marketplace there was a food festival going on and needless to say
we had to get a beer. To our surprise there were also many vegan options and
so we tried a delicious strawberry cake. Later we just strolled around the old
town until we found a nice bar next to the river Ljubljanica. There we got
another drink and then we went back to the hotel to refresh a bit before we
headed out again for dinner at Loving Hut. Afterwards we got ice cream and had
another drink at a lovely bar in the Old Town.
