Munich

Munich

Wednesday - 26th October 2011

On Wednesday Austria celebrated its National Day and we decided to use that holiday to go to Munich for shopping. We always take the train to Munich, because it is convenient and cheaper than taking the car. The ticket was about 30 Euros for both of us and it included the public transport system in Munich Another advantage is that we both can enjoy a beer in the many Bavarian beer gardens and breweries without worrying to drive. Around 9:00am we left Salzburg. Usually it takes two hours from Salzburg to Munich, but on Wednesday the locomotive broke down and we had to change to another train. Finally around noon we arrived at the main station.

Our first stop was at Max Pett, a nice vegetarian restaurant. I ordered the vegetarian Kebap and my girlfriend had the grilled vegetables. For dessert we shared a wonderful Mousse Au Chocolat.

Afterwards it was time for shopping, but soon we needed a break and went to one of our favorite beer restaurants in Munich, called Hacker-Pschorr. We both enjoyed a cold beer, while it was raining outside. Later the weather got better and we continued our shopping tour.

When we are in Munich, we usually visit the Hard Rock Cafe as well, but before we made a quick stop at the Viktualienmarkt. That's a great market where you can get all kind of food, like vegetables, baked goods and of course there are some small beer and wine booths, too. After a glass of wine, we were on our way to the Hard Rock Cafe. Around 7pm we returned to Salzburg.
