Disneyland Paris 2006/2007 - Part 1

Disney's Hotel Santa Fe

You already know that Claudia and I are huge Disney fans and for New Year's Eve 2006/07, we decided to go to Disneyland Paris again. This time we took our car and after a long 10 hours drive we arrived at Disneyland in the late afternoon. Again we chose Disney's Hotel Santa Fe, because last time it was really fine and we enjoyed our stay there a lot. We had to spend the first night in a hotel near Disneyland, because in the Santa Fe wasn't a room available.

Like last time we stayed in the Santa Fe Hotel again. The room was nice, clean and it was quiet all the time. This time we got a newly refurbished room near the main building with the restaurant, reception, shop and bar.

First Day in the Parks

Saturday - December 30th 2007

After we had breakfast we left our hotel and drove to Disneyland and checked in. Our room wasn't ready and so we headed over to the parks. Of course Disneyland Park was first.

First we paid a visit to Fantasyland, since it's my girlfriend's favorite land, and rode several rides there, like it's a small world, Dumbo and Mad Hatter's Tea Cups. Unfortunately the weather wasn't that good we had to buy some rain ponchos, which tore very soon.

A "must do" on every trip is to visit the fantastic dragon beneath Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

Around noon we had a reservation at Auberge De Cendrillon, one of the best and most beautiful restaurants at Disneyland. I ordered the Salmon with Risotto and Claudia had the Chicken in the Pot. Both dishes were very good

After lunch it was time for the other lands. First stop was Phantom Manor followed by Big Thunder Mountain in Frontierland, before we did a boat tour through Pirates of the Caribbean.

In the afternoon we went back to the hotel, because our room was ready. We checked out the hotel shop and afterwards we returned to Disneyland Park where we had some hot coffee to warm up again. It was very cold and rainy, sometimes it even snowed. Since it was already evening, we were a bit hungry and decided to have dinner with hot dogs at Casey's corner. Afterwards it was time for Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast and Space Mountain in Discoveryland.

The highlight of our first day was Disney's Fantillusion Parade. It was for the first time that we had seen a nighttime parade at Disneyland and Fantillusion was wonderful.

Afterwards the park closed and we did some shopping at Disney Village and had some drinks at the hotel bar.

Disneyland Paris 2006/2007 - Part 2

New Year's Eve

Sunday - December 31st 2006

Today we had breakfast in the park. Since there weren't as many people as in spring and it was still dark, we had breakfast first and then we used the extra time to ride all the Fantasyland attractions, which get very busy during the day. First was Le Carousel de Lancelot followed by Pinocchio, Snow White's Scary Adventures, Peter Pan's Flight and Dumbo.

When the rest of the park opened we headed over to Frontierland to ride Phantom Manor and Big Thunder Mountain. Phantom Manor takes you through a haunted house and it is one of Disney's best attractions.

Later we walked over to Walt Disney Studios Park right in time for Cinemagique, a movie that takes you through several classic movies in film history.

After Cinemagique and Animagique, a cute black light show, it was time for the fastest attraction at Disneyland Paris, Rock'n'Roller Coaster Avec Aerosmith.

Since the Studios Park didn't offer many attractions, we returned to the Disneyland Park. The lines were long at the main attractions and so we took the Disneyland Railroad which circles the park.

Discoveryland

We got off the train in Fantasyland and headed over to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril. Last time the ride wasn't open and so we were happy to experience the roller coaster. Although it was a bit rough, we enjoyed the ride.

Then we had a late lunch at the Hakuna Matata Restaurant in Adventureland. We both ordered Chicken with Fries and a Coke.

Since that day was New Year's Eve the park stayed open until one o'clock, we went back to the hotel to rest a bit for the evening, but before we rode Pirates of the Caribbean and walked around the park to shoot some pictures.

On the way to the Hotel

Back in the park we had dinner at Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost and to our surprise we found a table very quick. We have never seen so many people in the park like on that day. The weather was very bad and so we lined up for over an hour at Space Mountain, because the queue was inside the building. Outside it was raining heavily. Before midnight we bought two glasses of champagne and then we watched the New Year's fireworks from Main Street USA and welcomed 2007!
