Friends And Ghostbusters
Tuesday - May 6th 2025
For today the weather forecast was rather bad and so we decided to sleep a
little bit longer. For breakfast we stopped at the nearby Cafe Aroma again to
get bagels and iced coffees. Then we walked to New York's most famous
department store
Macy's,
where we arrived right on time for the opening. There we just browsed through
the shops and later we got a coffee at Starbucks inside Macy's. After a
successful shopping haul we went to Target next door to pick up some American
goodies to bring home. Before we had lunch, we just strolled around the area
to see the Empire State Building and the New York Public Library. Then it was
time for lunch at
Vegan on the Fly, a plant based restaurant near Bryant Park. Afterwards we accompanied the
inlaws back to the hotel, since they wanted to relax in the afternoon.

In the afternoon Claudia and I took the metro to Downtown New York, because we
wanted to go on a little movie and TV series tour. First we stopped at the
Hook & Ladder 8 Firehouse famous for being used as the Ghostbusters
Headquarter in the Ghostbusters movies. It was still decorated with the
Ghostbusters sign, which made it even more special. After we took some
pictures we were on our way to the next stop, however, along the way we came
across a Trader Joe's supermarket. We knew Trader Joe's from our former trips
to the USA and so we had to stop and buy some delicious stuff. Finally we
arrived at the next famous building, best known from one of the world's most
successful TV series Friends. Friends was and still is a big part of our lives
and so we had to see the apartment building. We still had planned another stop
for our tour, but on the way to the subway station we passed a lovely pub
called
The Village Tavern, where we just had to get an iced cold beer. We decided to skip the last
stop and got another round. On the way back to the hotel we picked up a couple
of slices of pizza from 2 Bros and ate them in the hotel lobby with the inlaws
before grabbing a drink at the hotel bar.
