Hovedoya Island
Friday - July 24th 2020
For today we planned to take the ferry boat to Hovedoya Island just in front
of Oslo's harbour, but first we had breakfast. On the way to the harbour we
stopped at a bakery to buy some rolls and pastries for lunch. The boat ride
took only 15 minutes and soon we left the hectic city behind. On Hovedoya
Island we just walked around and explored the beautiful island with its ruins
of former fortresses and natural beaches. For lunch we found a quiet place
near the cliffs and ate our baked goods. In the morning we nearly had the
island to our own, but around noon more and more people arrived to spend the
day relaxing on the island. So we took a break at the coffee house near the
boat dock, and while waiting for the ferry we had a cup of coffee and a
beer.

In the early afternoon we took the ferry back to the city and walked to Aker
Brygge, a new neighbourhood built on the grounds of former harbour storage
halls. There we strolled through the many shops and got an iced coffee at
Starbucks. Later we walked back to our hotel to relax a bit from the hot
weather. Later we went to Loving Hut for dinner. The rest of the evening we
spent at the Salt Festival again. There we enjoyed a couple of beers and
enjoyed the Scandinavian Summer with the sun being out until nearly midnight.
