Holmenkollen
Saturday - July 25th 2020
Today's plan was to visit the famous Holmenkollen Ski Jumping Arena. So after
we got up, we headed to our favourite self service bakery for breakfast. There
we also got some snacks for later and then we caught the metro to
Holmenkollen. The train ride from the city center to Holmenkollen took about
half an hour. A short walk later we arrived at the visitor center, bought our
tickets for the elevator to the plattform and soon we were on top and could
enjoy the wonderful view over Oslo. Last year we had already been to the ski
jumping arena in Innsbruck, but Holmenkollen was a tad more impressive.
Luckily we arrived early, bcause just half an hour later the line for the
elevator got pretty long. It was a bit disappointing that there was no coffee
house on top, like in Innsbruck, but the view was still great. Afterwards we
found a quite place near a small church, where we enjoyed our snacks for
lunch.

In the afternoon we headed back to Oslo to visit Vigelandsparken. This
beautiful park is named after the Norwegian artist Gustav Vigeland and it
feautured a lot of his sculptures. We didn't spend a lot of time there,
becuase it got really cowded, and once we found the famous angry baby
sculpture we left and took the metro back to Aker Brygge, where we got an iced
coffee at Strarbucks. Later we relaxed a bit at the hotel and the we decided
to spend the evening at the Salt festival again. There we also got
dinner, I had a pizza and Claudia got the veggie burger. A couple of beers
later we returned to the hotel.
