A Day In Salzburg

A Beautiful Day In Salzburg

Thursday - October 9th 2014

After our wedding Claudia and I both took the whole week off from work and after we spent a few days in Vienna, we returned home to Salzburg. Today was such a beautiful fall day and so we decided to hike around the city. Around noon we walked into the inner city and had lunch at BioBurgerMeister, where we both ordered the veggie burger.

Afterwards we hiked to the Franziskischlössl, a beautiful small castle on top of the Kapuziner mountain. It took us longer than expected to get there, but it was such a beautiful walk through the forest. On the way we stopped at a small monestary and took some photos. When we arrived at the castle, we enjoyed a couple of beers in the beautiful beer garden.

Back in the city, we had an early dinner at Uncle Van and then we went back home, where we enjoyed a wonderful evening with watching football.

Vienna Fall 2014 - Part 1

Arriving In Vienna

Sunday - October 5th 2014

After our wedding we decided to go to Vienna for a short honeymoon. Sunday morning after the wedding we slept in and then we had breakfast. Later we packed our stuff and presents and checked out of the Spitz Hotel.

We dropped off our stuff at Claudia's parents and in the early afternoon we took the train to Vienna. Usually we drive, but this time we were still a bit tired from the wedding. Before we went to our hotel, we had dinner at Loving Hut. For starters we ordered spring and summer rolls and a veggie burger for the main course.

Afterwards we took the subway to the hotel. Since it was right after the wedding, we wanted to stay in a nicer hotel than usually. So we booked the 25 Hours Hotel Vienna near the Museumsquartier. Check in was quick and easy and soon we were in our room, where a welcome gift was already waiting. Our room was nicely themed after a circus, like the rest of the hotel, and included a bathroom, a TV and a mini bar. After we refreshed a bit, Claudia and I spent the rest of the evening at the Dachboden Bar on top of the hotel.

Vienna Fall 2014 - Part 2

Relaxing In Vienna

Monday - October 6th 2014

Today we slept in, because we were still a bit exhausted from our wedding. Around 10am we got up and soon we were on our way to Starbucks for coffee. The hotel offered free rental bikes and of course we had to try them. After a small breakfast at Starbucks we did some shopping at the Mariahilfer Straße, Vienna's main shopping street. For lunch we went to Xu's Cooking, a vegetarian buffet style Chinese restaurant.

Afterwards we returned the bikes and walked into the inner city. While Claudia had to attend a meeting with her publisher, I had a cup of tea at Starbucks. Since Claudia published her first vegan cookbook, we had to celebrate that at Meinl's Wine Bar. Later we headed to the newly opened Hard Rock Cafe Vienna. It was about time that the famous restaurant chain opened one in Austria and I have to say it turned out beautifully. There we spent quite some time and had some delicious cocktails.

Later we had dinner at a Mexican burrito grill named Fresco. We both ordered a veggie burrito with nachos and guacamole. Although the burritos didn't match the ones from Chipotle, they were still quite tasty and I'm sure we will eat there again. Before we returned to the hotel, we had a drink at the Museumsquartier and ice cream at Veganista. Back at the hotel we spent some time at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed some ice cold beers.
