Vienna Summer 2014 - Part 1

Arriving In Vienna

Thursday - July 3rd 2014

Currently Claudia is working on her own cookbook and so we had to drive to Vienna to shoot the pictures for the book. Thursday after work we loaded our car with baked goods and soon we were on our way to Vienna. After we arrived, we dropped off  the cakes, muffins and cupcakes at the photo studio. We chatted a bit with the photographer and then we drove to our hotel to check in. The publisher booked our hotel and chose the Hotel Am Brillantengrund, because it was conveniently located near the photo studio. The hotel was full of furniture taken from the Sixties and so it offered a fantastic vintage style. Our room was clean and was equipped with a TV and, of course, with a bathroom.

Since we were getting hungry, we decided to have dinner at Loving Hut, a vegan restaurant. We both ordered a veggie burger with fries and shared Summer and Spring rolls as a starter. Later we headed to the main shopping street and did some window shopping. Before we returned to the hotel, we enjoyed the most delicious vegan ice cream at Bortolotti. Back at the hotel we had a cold beer at the hotel bar.

Photo Shooting

Friday - July 4th 2014

Today was the big day. Claudia's sweet creations were photographed for her cook book. After breakfast we walked to the photo studio and soon the work began. It was quite interesting to see how such a professional shooting works.

We finished the shooting in the afternoon and it was more exhausting than expected. After we cleaned up the kitchen, we walked back to the hotel and relaxed with a cold beer at the hotel bar.

After we refreshed a bit, we headed to Loving Hut for a late lunch. Like yesterday we shared Summer rolls as a started. I ordered the veggie burger again and Claudia had sweet and sour chicken. On our way to the inner city we stopped at Starbucks for iced coffee. We just strolled through the city and paid a visit to the construction site of the upcoming Hard Rock Cafe. After a glass of Aperol Spritz at Julius Meinl, we enjoyed another cup of delicious ice cream at Bortolotti.

Before we returned to the hotel, we had falafel for dinner at Maschu Maschu. Back at the hotel we spent the rest of the evening at the hotel bar drinking beer and watching the FIFA World Cup.

Vienna Summer 2014 - Part 3

Returning Home

Saturday - July 5th 2014

Although the photo shooting was finished yesterday, we decided to book an additional night, because we wanted to spend more time in Austria's capital city. After we woke up, we packed our belongings and checked out. For breakfast we had a coffee at Starbucks. Then we went to the famous Naschmarkt and to a newly opened vegan supermarket.

Around noon we returned to our hotel to get our car and soon we were on our way to one of our favourite restaurants. Like always when we had been in Vienna, we stopped at Restaurant Schillinger on our way back home to Salzburg. For lunch we shared the BBQ platter and afterwards we drove homewards.
