Vienna Winter 2014 - Part 1

Since the day it was announced that Disney's musical Mary Poppins was coming to Vienna, we wanted to see it. So we decided to see a show during Christmas time. Usually we drive to Austria's capital city, but like in October, we chose the train again, because our hotel was conviniently located at the train station, and we wanted to avoid all the Christmas traffic. This time we stayed at the Motel One Wien Westbahnhof and like all other Motel One hotels we had stayed so far, this one was also fine. Our room was clean and equipped with a TV, but no mini bar.

Around noon we arrived in Vienna at our hotel. Luckily our room was already available and so we dropped off our luggage and went out to have lunch at Xu's Cooking, a vegetarian buffet restaurant.

After lunch we headed to the inner city, had a drink at the Hard Rock Cafe and then it was already time to go to the theatre. Mary Poppins was shown at the Ronacher Theatre. We booked the afternoon showing, because the evening showing was already sold out. The musical was fantastic and we loved every minute of it.

After the musical we walked to the Museumsquartier and had several mulled wines at the Christmas Market. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at Vapiano for dinner. We shared a bruschetta as an appetizer and while Claudia ordered pasta for the main dish, I had a pizza.

Vienna Winter 2014 - Part 2

Christmas In Vienna

Sunday - December 21st 2014

Our hotel package didn't include breakfast and so we went to a vegetarian bistro called Harvest for breakfast. The small restaurant offered a breakfast buffet and it was really very delicious. There was a lot to chose from and it was totally worth a visit.

Afterwards we spent some time at the Hard Rock Cafe again and in the early afternoon we walked to the Spittelberg Christmas market. There we had a delicious mulled wine and later we had dinner at Maschu Maschu. Then we we went back to the hotel, got our luggage and boarded the train back to Salzburg.

Munich Winter 2014 - Part 1

Arriving In Munich

Like in the last two years, we spent a weekend with good friends in Munich. In the morning they picked us up and an hour later we arrived at our hotel. We stayed at the same Motel One hotel like in the previous years. After we checked in, we were on our way to the Christmas market in the inner city.

Two mulled wines later we had lunch at our favourite burger restaurant called Hans Im Glück. Claudia and I both ordered the vegan burger with fries and a Coke. After a delicious lunch, we did some shopping and of course we had another mulled wine at the Christmas market.

In the afternoon the men and the girls went seperate ways, because we had tickets for the German Bundesliga game FC Bayern Munich against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. We took the subway to the Allianz Arena and since we had still enough time until the match started, we enjoyed a cold beer in the stadium. Finally the soccer game started, but unfortunately the whole game wasn't as good as expected. However Bayern Munich won and that's all that mattered. Back at the hotel we met with the girls and had a bagel and one last drink at the hotel bar.

Munich Winter 2014 - Part 2

A Delicious Breakfast In Munich

Sunday - December 7th 2014

Today we had an early breakfast reservation at Hotel Louis. Last year there wasn't a table available, but this time we were lucky and got one. This hotel offers many vegan options and so every time we are in Munich we try to eat there. A delicious breakfast later, we walked to Starbucks for a cup of tea. Then we headed back to the hotel, got our stuff and drove back home to Salzburg.

A Day In Salzburg

A Beautiful Day In Salzburg

Thursday - October 9th 2014

After our wedding Claudia and I both took the whole week off from work and after we spent a few days in Vienna, we returned home to Salzburg. Today was such a beautiful fall day and so we decided to hike around the city. Around noon we walked into the inner city and had lunch at BioBurgerMeister, where we both ordered the veggie burger.

Afterwards we hiked to the Franziskischlössl, a beautiful small castle on top of the Kapuziner mountain. It took us longer than expected to get there, but it was such a beautiful walk through the forest. On the way we stopped at a small monestary and took some photos. When we arrived at the castle, we enjoyed a couple of beers in the beautiful beer garden.
